While it is probably true that the Men's player should have had a more direct and tangible punishment, the connection to the women player reporting him for vandalism to her car and the decrease in her playing time may not be accurate based on a comment posted in the comment section which I quote below.

"Since The Star refuses to print this, I'll do it. When Calvert starts for KU this year, they are 2-10. When she doesn't start they are 5-9. She's shooting 29% from the floor, 22% from 3, and 61% from the FT line. The last game she started she went 2-18 from the floor. The dip in points per game and minutes also coincides with the start of Big 12 play. Her big point games were in the non-con against easier opponents. Candace Parker she is not. This is likely an on-court decision but that doesn't generate clicks or newspaper buys. All of this info from the KU Athletics site by the way. I think I did more research and a higher level investigation than The Star did. I NEVER comment on stories on here but I felt the need to say something here since this story has been extremely slanted in one direction."

I have no idea if this is completely accurate and I have no intention of following it up but I add this only because many readers of the article may never look at the comment section and the title of this thread is so definitive.

Did anyone ever stop and think that maybe her playing time decreased because she may have violated team rules by being at a bar while underage and drinking while in season?

Usually, if you want to punish a talented player, you sit them down for a game or so. Cutting playing minutes does nothing except hurt the team on a continuous basis.

This adds to the likely hood that minute reduction is a basketball decision and not punishment as I brought up in my previous post.

It may in fact be a purely basketball related decision but what is a bit suspicious is that she started loosing playing time right after she reported the incident........

Could be. But if so, why not say so? And why was she benched right after reporting the incident? And why is the athletic department being so coy? On the other hand, we have a star athlete who committed a violent act against a woman. She finds herself punished, and he gets off scott-free.

Kind of makes me want to ask questions, and get answers. Seems to me that the women's CBB deserves an answer. As do other women at the university.

See a pattern here?

The only point I wanted to bring out is the way this thread is titled, it appears a certainty. Even the OP has softened the language to "It may in fact be a purely basketball related decision but what is a bit suspicious is that she started loosing playing time right after she reported the incident...

I again add the quote from the comments section of the article

"Since The Star refuses to print this, I'll do it. When Calvert starts for KU this year, they are 2-10. When she doesn't start they are 5-9. Again,

By all means investigate and if there is collusion, there should be punishment

The last ESPN box score I saw for her was 2/21 ISU she has 7 points on 3-8 shooting in 15 minutes. The game she had before that was 2/11 against Texas she had 0 points on 0-3 shooting in 6 minutes.

The last game she started, they lost by 49 to baylor and she shot 2-18 and the team shot 20.6%.

When I first started this message, I felt like she was being punished. After looking at most of the box scores I am not so sure.

Only an impartial person who has seen most of the games would be able to say for sure.
