So following the Vols' loss to VTech, Deb Antonelli has them ranked at #7 in the AP poll voting, so I guess she really does closely follow the RPI ratings which has UTenn at #6. And she is supposedly someone who knows something about the WCBB. Lord help us.
Dan Fleser of the Knoxville News Sentinel is a little less generous toward the team he covers closely, putting them at #21. Adamec, Fuller, and Lobo go for #16, #14, and #13 respectively on the Vols, but they also have to be cognizant of anti-Vols flak from the UTenn diehards.
Perhaps the biggest free spirit in the voting as reported by Bleacher Report is Clay Horning of the Norman (OK) Transcript, who has UCLA at #12, USC #15, and VTech at #17, providing more than a quarter of the Hokies' points this week. All three picks were the highs for the teams, and though the UCLA and VTech picks are hugely different from where Sagarin and Massey have them rated, his USC pick is close to Sags #17 and Massey's #13, though the Trojans are unranked in the AP and don't get a single point in Coaches.
Rankings are always are a messy business.
