A long story:

A UConn staffer walked up to the nose-bleed zone this afternoon and invited us to court-side
courtesy of CD's unused seats.

Unaccustomed as I am to such exulted premises, I paid close attention to the proceedings to my immediate front.

We all have been made aware of Geno's attention to the minutest detail regarding the ebb and flow of the game. What I never quite realized is his immediate on his sleeve reaction to every single major or minor miscue (and excellent play as well). His distain for each and every detail that displeases him is classic.

With regard the title of the thread: As the starting lineup was announced, Gabby was standing right next to Kia; a comparison of their respective heights was inevitable.

Kai has always been listed as 6' 0" and Gabby 5 foot something.

Actually standing right next to each other (with the wife and I observing from a distance of 10 feet or less)
it was absolutely apparent that Gabby is without a doubt not of a lesser stature than Kia, indeed perhaps a smidge taller.

Something in the PR dept. is not completely correct.

Gabby is listed at 5' 11". One inch is insignificant.

I made the same comment watching on-line during the first half. I too wondered if it was just the hair but to me Gabby's shoulders look higher than Kia's.

Have you seen Gabby's new hairstyle? Adds several inches.

Hmmmm, how about a team full of beehives; they could inflate all of the heights by 6 inches!

Why do people focus on the height of a players head? When was the last time you saw a player make a basket or block a shot with their head.

I don't believe people truly care about heights as much they are ticked off as to why there is so much misinformation put out by the 'authorities.' Why in the hell can't the actual measurement be revealed? It shouldn't be in dispute. Just the facts, ma'am.

Gabby's height is correctly listed. What is not well known is that Gabby's shoes are specially made for her, because of an old injury, and have springs throughout the foot bed.

Well done Maestro. Based on the elements highlighted below we officially can declare this a height controversy.
Slu good catch also hair style should definitely be added as an element of a proper Boneyard height controversy.

QUOTE="CocoHusky, post: 1206748, member: 5823"]Biff, there are simply not enough elements in this picture to start a proper Boneyard player height controversy from which definitive speculative conclusions can be drawn. As a reminder a proper Boneyard player height controversy must involve one or more of the following elements:
· Bria Hartley
· Multiple players in a photo with a combination of different shoe heal lengths (flats and pumps).
· One or more of the players in the photo hunched over or sitting.
· Breanna Stewards wing span as verified by multiple obsessive Doris Burke commentary. Is it 71 inches or 7’ 1”?
· Bria Hartley –self explanatory
· Conflicting measurements on the same website eg, KML shrunk 1 full inch per the official UCONN roster between her Junior and Senior years- go figure!
· The calibrated eye of a boneyard commenter eg. “She stood right next to me and I’m 5’11” she must be at least …..”
· Conflicting measurements between the ranking websites ESPN says she 6’3” and Prospects Nation says she 6’ 5”.
· Bria Hartley-No explanation required.
· A photo where it simply cannot be determined how the photographer was standing, sitting, squatting above or below.
· A span of at least two years preferably between the player’s Freshman and Junior years of high school where girls have been known to actually grow.[/QUOTE]

I believe the players secretly stretch and slouch when standing next to each other just to mess with the Boneyard's tape measure mafia.

Gabby does have a remarkably upright posture, even when she is moving with alacrity (the word of the day ;)). She looks like a high jumper approaching the bar. Oh, wait....:D

I don't believe that ANY possible height correlation can be made between Gabby and Kia.

Gabby is from (Northern) Nevada where all people are forthright & upright ...and, therefore, measures up taller than most.**
Kia is from Canada.
She, understandably, can only be calculated in metric measure (and, of course, is subject to, perhaps, a 2-3% discount because of periodic fluctuations in the exchange rate).

**In addition to which... coming to a wetter climate may have subjected her to an elongation by acquisition of atmospheric moisture.

I shouldn't add another name into the height controversy, but I can't resist. The team has always lined up in height order from the shortest to the tallest; running out for warm-ups and lining up for the national anthem. Well I could not help noticing that before the first exhibition game at the XL Center against Lubbock Christian the line up order went from Kia to Courtney THEN Da'Janae, then Napheesa and then Morgan. Isn't Da'Janae 6'2" and Napheesa 6'1"? Is someone out of order or were they really in height order??????

I have referred back to this picture several times over the last year as it's the best picture I have seen that takes away most of the outside variables. Based on this one could say they are very, very close to the same height. No way Da'Janae is an inch taller.

I'm convinced, despite the fact that DB is obviously leaning in to the left... at most .328". Most encouraging for me in the photo, however, is that KLS is about as pigeon toed as Stewie! :D
