This may make me a masochist but here goes:

1. The film is worse than I thought re. our O line. First off Knappe and Levy are not serviceable tackles at this point in theiir careers. Too slow footed and really bad technique. Think we might want to go with wider splits with them. Consistently beaten off the edge.

2. Whitmer is not the problem. I'm surprised he can even get out of bed today. He was hit on roughly 90% of his drop backs.

3. That offsides on the second half kick off was such a momentum killer

4. Diaco has talked about fixing the fixable things. Pre snap penalties, stupid chop blocks (we've seen more of them this year than the previous 8 IMO. We are just not seeing the little things getting cleaned up.

5. Max ran it hard and Arkeel showed well.

6. Confusion in the secondary pre-snap led to the long TD pass. Nobody was clear on assignments pre-snap which led to the one WR running right by Adams

7. Still not seeing the progress - improvement in the little things. Thought the love and the discipline would help with that. Players need to own that

I am also masochistic and did the same thing. Agree with your assessment. There is so very little that the QB (Whitmer or Boyle) can do at this point. The protection is just so bad. If I can take any positives away, it's that Newsome, DeLorenzo, and Johnson are all players. The future is bright with them. And I'm almost favoring going with Foxx at QB to help us deal with this protection problem, if not for the fact that it would mean Geremy Davis will become a non-factor in every game after that point.

They HAVE to figure something out with this OLine, because there's no way we can win with them the way they are currently playing...

Foley needs to step up and say let me do it if the blocking scheme is really the problem as some have said.

Foley is supposed to be the guy teaching them, whether it's zone or man. I don't think it's Foley or the O-Coordinator though it sure does seem they could get these guys better motivated than they seem to be. I think it's just that the O-line isn't that good whether it be young and inexperienced or just not talented enough to play at this level. There's got to be a reason some of those guys weren't sought after by P-5 schools. Everyone can blame the last regime for the O-line woes but if they are guilty of anything it's not recruiting better linemen. That I will put on them.

Skib,
What did you see on that long pass down to the 5 yard line caught by the slot (big guy #84), looked like Stewart had him at the line, did he expect help? made it 21-3 shortly thereafter.

I'm too lazy to look for it but didn't you say the PP recruiting was an 'uptick' to the RE recruiting??
If not my bad - but don't lie - you'll get caught!! If you did we must define uptick differently.

The only positive, and a I mean ONLY, was the final 5 minutes of the game in front of 500 UCONN fans and the Temple band ripping off the U.S. Men's National Team's "I Believe That We Have Won" chant where Foxx came in at QB and moved the offense against Temple's 5th string scout team defense. I could not care less if he moved the offense against Bristol High School's JV scout team at this point. I just want the offense to move the goddam ball against anyone and Foxx did, looking fairly comfortable in the process.

In truth - we did move the ball on the first drive decently...

No. Other long pass that went for the TD. Could see a lot of confusion among the safeties and then everyone flowed right and the receiver flowed left and blew right past Adams

I am trying to block out that drive out because of how it ended. Newsome's screen pass run was pretty cool too.

This.

The future is bright with Whitmer, just need to get everything around him fixed and he will lead us to the promised land. Stay the course with Whitmer and don't even think about using anyone else at QB because our QB play would be great if only the line could give him more time to throw.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. I will refrain from losing from my until that is confirmed first. :)

It was a good 1st drive up until it ended in disaster. We held the ball for more than 8 minutes, Max D was running the ball well, and we converted a 4th & short. The pick-6 was on 3rd down so we didn't even get a FG shot. Just a total killer play.

Not sure what happened to start the 2nd half. The D was playing great the first 30 minutes, then went MIA 3rd qtr. Did the offsides on the fumbled kickoff take the wind out of their sails? Or did Temple make one halftime adjustment and suddenly look like Oregon?

One thing that remains consistent - the back-breaking turnovers/mistakes and horrid OL pass blocking are absolutely destroying this team.

He is def sarcastic and 100% behind Boyle - feel free to lose ...

His boy had plenty of protection on that 4th quarter throw and wide open receiver and produced a 6 foot overthrow to the guy in a white jersey. Everyone knows boyle is the savior and answer to all our problems but the coaches.

I didn't say Whitmer was the answer. Said he isn't the problem and right now is much better than Boyle

He did a pretty good job recruiting but left us hanging on keeping and developing OL.
Whatever happened to?

2010 - MarkHansson, Greg Mckee BJ McBtyde - Cruz only one left from that class.
2011 - Xavier Hemingway - Nwokeji and Gifford on roster, does Nokwegi play?
2012 - Drew Ghio, Rennick Bryan - Rugg Samara Levy on roster
2013 - Chas Wright, - Shefenaker and Hopkins are on roster.

So P took a total of 17 OL's including Knapp, 7 are gone. Not sure where to place Nokwegi.

2014 - Crozier Rutheford: Dan Oak is a center. We took only three.

Recruiting numbers ridiculously low IMHO.

BJ McBryde is now a DT. Nwokeji is a back up. Ghio was a walk-on I believe. Rennick Bryan never made it to Uconn. Rugg, Samra and Levy are all still on 2-deep.

3. That offsides on the second half kick off was such a momentum killer
I said (not joking at all) to Nostical that it is hard to believe an offside in the second half kickoff was the turning point of the game. The thing is points have been so difficult to come by for this team that a) a break like that was an incredible jolt and b) once it was taken away, the idea getting it back became such a monumental task that the letdown was tremendous. This team doesn't (yet) have the mental toughness to put something like that behind them. The third quarter was basically going through the motions due to that letdown.

How did I miss McBryde. Nonetheless, no numbers for the OL the last 3 years.

I believe McKee was dismissed from the team and school because he was arrested for having child pornography on his computer.
