In addition to that 12-14 points, I think Kiah could get about 10 rebounds and 4-5 blocks in 30 minutes against good competition. Not a bad stat line, and it doesn't require any improvement in the skill set that she has already demonstrated.[/quote]

First: Kiah won't be getting 30 minutes this year unless Steph is injured. 2nd: 14 pts/10 rebs/5 blocks are AA stats. 3rd: she could not earn meaningful minutes against good competition last year. Way to much optimism after 2 meaningless exhibition games, but she can test this out come Monday against Stanford and AA Chiney.

Thanks Dave, nice write-up. Glad to see the acknowledgment of Monica Schacker, my hope is there aren't many other players who can put up 16 points against UConn.

Agree with Phil, Monica Shacker played well. There was no quit in Philadelphia, they kept coming. Glad to see Geno do the handshake line with them - I'm sure it meant a lot to those players.

Also, enjoyed meeting Meyers last night and sharing tales of our homes in the heartland! Great to see Tony and Mrs & Mrs Kib as well! I don't always get names and faces put together during those meet ups. but
they are are enjoyable.

Excellent question, easy answer.

It's Geno's call, of course,
Ah yes, it is. And it seems Geno's call, at least for the start of the season, without injuries, is
Jefferson
Hartley
KML
Stewart
Dolson

With the bench of
Tuck
Banks
Stokes
Chong

and then Tierney and Pulid. And I wholeheartedly agree with him on this.

and the players (1) have total faith in him and (2) are focused on winning (games and NC), not about who starts or who gets how much PT.
True, and I think Tuck will get plenty of playing time. Probably 20-25 minutes a game.

My expectation is that during the long season Geno will "mix and match" his starting lineups
I don't think he will. I think he's pretty set on that excluding injuries. (granted there might be a couple doghouse changes here or there)

My expectation is that during the long season Geno will "mix and match" his substitution patterns to take advantage of the team's depth of talent and to create nightmarish challenges for opponents and their coaches.
That, I agree with.

Likewise, enjoyed meeting someone from "back home". :)

See the other thread. Numerous comments to check out.

For me tonight, there were three persons of interest: Banks, Stokes, and Chong.

I could not have been more pleased with way this local version of "3 2 C" played out. Brianna, Kiah and Saniya were all terrific, each in her own way.

In the car en route home, caught a little of Bob Joyce's post-game show. During his interview with Chris Dailey, she compared Morgan Tuck to Kelly Faris. I rate that as high praise.

I like the way Chong finishes! A lot of players can't complete the three point play after contact. Evidently she's stronger than she looks.

IMO Jefferson starts.

Also I don't agree with "UCONN will mix and match" as an overall startegy. Once CD said it to parpaphrase "teams react to us . . ." Teams will react to what we do. Otherwise we'll bury them by 50+ points. We might react to them at the moment we call off the dogs.

One person's merge is another's meld. I went with the thread title.
