I was at the Final Four in Tampa and sat in the Upper Level in Section 304 (corner section). In the two sections either side of me, the seats were pretty much completely filled, mostly by UConn or South Carolina for all three games. In my section, there were approximately 20 Texas/UCLA fans, I believe all of who came back for the championship game, albeit most without their school colors. The Longhorn and Bruins fans were pretty gracious in defeat, I might add. What I will tell you about Amalie Arena is that it has a huge shortage of bathrooms. So much so that on both the second and third levels, they temporarily converted one men's bathroom to a ladies bathroom. The result was that there were incredibly long lines for each. Same for the kiosk selling NCAA stuff on each level. Simply put, I suspect many of the empty seats you saw were a result of people standing in lines elsewhere. I sat in an aisle seat - people were still coming back up the steps to their seats with food/drink and memorabilia five minutes into each quarter. I think any high angle arena shots probably occurred during timeouts or between quarters/half. I concur on your Fulwiley assessment.
