Quite a while ago, probably long before you and most posters could read, CONN was the USPS official abbreviation for Connecticut, put a ‘U’ in front of it, mystery solved.

Sure, but the idea behind branding is getting a particular image/message for the school. In writing they want it UConn. The purpose of the rebrand was to encourage people to use UConn over UCONN when writing

Just wondering why all the primary signage on campus has it as UCONN. The new 3D signage being installed at the northern main entrance to campus will also be UCONN.

I can't find the exact link now, but the rebrand was basically UConn in writing but the wordmark UCONN is being used on campus for signs and is used for the academic purposes

Every Champion sweatshirt I bought at the Co-op said UCONN on it. The word mark is UConn, but UCONN is still a valid TM logo.

I understand why they did it, just don’t understand why people feel the need to crush anyone who uses it incorrectly, especially when they are giving the university a plug. Just seems silly to me

I loved creating and selling corporate identity programs when I had my agency. Very profitable and easy to sell once the client realizes the need for it. There is a lot of BS to go along with the design strategy and the final presentation..
