I'm sure there's a post on here somewhere bitching about the running game. I just don't have the stomach to scroll through and find it.

Forget the O-Line, Lyle McCombs is not an explosive, every down back. I'm assuming no veteran challenged him enough for the gig so I'm all for giving Josh Marriner some run.

I think you're probably right...

but i'd love to see what he could do behind a competently-coached line

They bailed on the other guys early, against Towson. So much for competition. Looks like it's full steam ahead with 1 guy. Brilliant because it worked so well last year. McCombs and occasionally throw Whitmer to the wolves. If I didn't know any better I'd assume...nah nevermind.

I have no idea why Max or Hippo couldnt have gotten a carry or 2 yesterday.

Once again, 84 friggin rushing yards (12 by foxx on the sweep).

It's so stupid my head is about to explode

I thought that last year too. But Lyle just doesn't have that initial burst to allow him to hit a hole at full speed. He doesn't run "hard" and isn't elusive enough to counter that. Throw in his inability to break tackles and you'll see how I came to my conclusion.

I'm reading how Penn State is starting a true freshman at QB. I know he was a 5* (#2 QB) but he's still a freshman and they're giving him a chance to be something special. The entire PSU fanbase is fired up at the possibility of catching lighting in a bottle.

Now that I think of it, if the season is going to be anything like last night then I want Marriner AND Tim Boyle starting.

You can't win the money if you don't roll the dice. It's our turn to roll and Momma needs a new pair of shoes.

PSU doesn't have much of a choice in the matter, AND their frosh QB was enrolled last semester. He's been there awhile.

I would be reluctant putting Boyle out there under the direction of GDL.

Never thought of it from a coaching standpoint, Stater, you bring up a good argument. But I'm positive that Josh and Tim can take us to the Promiseland.

I've been talking to my friend Gene N. Tonic and he's got me totally convinced it's our only hope. We're pretty tight so I believe him.

Reluctant? I'd be reluctant x 1.000,000. No, no, no not under these circumstances!

I've been tossing this round all day Jim and the majority of the time I was thinking the same as you. I'd love to keep the RS for all of our Freshman so that they have a full 4 years under whoever is our new HC next year.

The reason I want to start our stud Freshman in game 2 is because I can honestly see PP burning their redshirts when we're 1-8.
