"I am always connected to the program," Elliott said. "I trade Twitter messages with Geno [Auriemma]. And even though I didn't recruit most of his younger kids [Elliott did recruit sophomore Stefanie Dolson], and they don't know me, I know pretty much everything there is to know about them. Of course, they may not realize that."

And, of course, there will be the pregame hug with Auriemma and assistants Chris Dailey and Shea Ralph.

The past couple of games with Cincy, both at Storrs two seasons ago and last year in Cincinnati, Jamelle has been visibly emotional about playing UConn. Obviously, taking a head coaching opportunity made sense, but it seems apparent to me that she'd like to end up back at UConn in some capacity or another. If it happens, I hope that it's because she's had great success and is ripe for a promotional opportunity that lands her back in Storrs, and not any of the alternatives.

Hmm. Associate Head Coach and primary enforcer?

Jamelle will always be a favorite with me and, I think, most UConn fans, especially those that remember how tough she played, especially on the boards. I hope someday that toughness will transfer to her team. IIRC, didn't Jamelle do a lot of recruiting while at UConn? Of course, it's got to be a lot easier to talk a kid into UConn than Cincy, but hopefully she can get some good players who might be flying a bit under the radar.

It seems to me that Jamelle's Cincinnati program has a challenge like Uconn in the early Geno years. Recruiting a top level talent to lead the way. If they could get a player like Kerry Bascom, then they could be on their way to future recruiting and on-the-court success.
