My only point is that the word "drown" necessarily involves dying. It can mean figurative death, like drowning one's sorrows in alcohol, to "kill" the sorrows. It can also mean potential death, like when a person who ends up surviving is described as drowning. The person who uses that word in that situation is doing so to indicate that the victim is at risk of dying. [/QUOTE]
