[QUOTE="Hans Sprungfeld, post: 5155650, member: 181"] Without any illusion that anybody has thirsted to read this, I'll offer that I put the game into my calendar, missed much of the first quarter, and think it added up to the longest watching of any football game for me yet this season. Somebody asked if I was joking when I joked during the last Super Bowl that I had heard of zero Hall of Fame inductees who were announced. I wish that UNC had been kept at 7 points and that UConn had broken 30. Either of those would have ended the season with UConn outscoring the ACC in total points this year in head-to-head competition. I wish that UConn hadn't lost the lead at Duke, so that the season ended with a 2-2 record against ACC, unless 3-1 by beating either Wake at home or Syracuse on the road. I like that ACC's current bowl record this year is worse than its record in the ACC-SEC basketball challenge. I was happy for UConn fans who has a happy day trip or regional middle-of-the-holidays weekend visit to Boston. During the game, I texted with my oldest friend, as we enjoyably watched the full game. He has felt the full pain of the Giants season; I put myself out of the misery some number of years ago. We mused about Eli's HoF chances; I noted that I watched classic 1960s NFL chances as far back at Huskies, Red Sox, and Celtics, and have joyous memories of a pair of Super Bowl championships by both Phil Simms and Eli Manning. The total number is equal to the Packer and Chiefs. That's better than all but a previous few fanbases can claim. Yesterday, it felt like I was cheering for New England's premier football team, and I liked it. With a soundtrack of "China Cat Sunflower," I'm watching UConn WBB up 17-2 halfway into its first quarter hosting Providence at XL Center, and imagining that continued momentum could turn me into a casual fan.
