It may be that the Samuelson family story will not replicate that of the Ogwumikes.
While still in high school, Bonnie Samuelson was considered a blue-chip recruit. At one point, she and some family members (at least mom and dad, not sure about two younger sisters) drove east and stopped at Duke, Maryland and UConn, where she presumably evaluated these schools, coaches, etc. (Since these were unofficial visits, they were at family expense.)
In the end, she stayed close to home in California and enrolled in Stanford. As a freshman she is averaging 12 minutes and 5.6 points per game. Perhaps her best game was vs. Oregon when she took 13 shots (all treys) and sank 6 for an 18-point game. Verifying her status as a long-range gunner is the fact that only Toni Kokenis has taken more 3-point attempts.
It is clear that UConn is actively recruiting younger sister, Karlie, so it is possible that Stanford is not a lock.
We'll see in due time.
