Some things to note from the story:
  • Calhoun says we're "close to adding another kid." Will it be R.J. Evans or another recruit that maybe we're not aware of?
  • Lamb will meet with Calhoun later today and is expected to declare for the draft
  • Drummond will meet with Calhoun on Monday. Calhoun doesn't know what Drummond will do now with the postseason ban, but "there was initial feedback that he would come back."
  • Oriakhi has talked with Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, Missouri, and Xavier among others
  • No other players have shown intentions to transfer at this point
  • Omar Calhoun is still committed to the program (and is now ranked the #32 prospect in ESPN's updated rankings)
  • We are back to 12 scholarships, meaning we got 2 back from the APR penalty

"We would love to (be in the Big East tournament). But you can have a bad year and miss the (NCAA) tournament. We have had years where we've played only one game in the Big East tournament. This year, we played only one game in the NCAA tournament. The season is the season."

Great perspective, which I know I lose a lot of the time.

At this point they need to treat the 2012-2013 season as just part 1 of the 2013-2014 season.

I'm not nearly ready to accept our fate just yet! If anything, I hope this team approaches next season as its NCAA and BE tournaments and strives to win the regular season championship. As I pointed out in another thread, coming out on top in both the court and classroom this coming year can add fuel to the fires of popular opinion for UConn and against the NCAA. It won't win the war, but maybe it will exact some casualties with the NCAA. Maybe enough people will turn against the NCAA for them to kick some of these decision makers to the curb.

i think next season with a decent run we could really bring in a solid recruiting class for the following year.

As always JC is moving forward and doing the best with what he can control. I think it's a great sign that the current players are not looking to transfer, and Omar is still on board. We can be really really good in 2 years...Life isn't fair, we need to accept this and get major pay back by winning another NC in a couple years

Please, no projects.I hope we are over that.

Realistically, recruiting is going to be difficult. Even without the ban, we've got the spectre of a coach who could retire at any time, and a league that's arguably less attractive than in the past. I hope we'll save a scholly for next year.

The good news is that while he could leave, I think JC will now stick around for two more years.

BTW, are we still eligible for the NIT? I'd actually be okay with that under the circumstances.

STOP!!!! Please don't suggest that recruiting is going to be hurt because of the NBE... This league is still the best league in BB and recruits don't give a crap about schools changing like a carousel.
I will not read about how the BE BB is now weak or watered down. It's bad enough to read it about FB. Take that crap somewhere else. We may have some other issues, but playing BB in the BE is not going to be a concern for recruiting.

Cover your eyes and ears, and bury your head in the sand if you want, but when another conference gets stronger at your expense, that makes you weaker.

OK... Then I guess running around like Chicken Little screaming the sky is falling is a better solution right?
Even with the recent changes, the BE is still arguably the best BB league, and no worse than 2 on anyone's list.
Suggesting that our affiliation with BE BB is going to hurt recruiting is, for lack of a better word, ignorant.
But, I will cover my eyes and ears so I don't have to hear or read people like you bloviate about something until they can convince themselves it's true.
