At the camp, boys ages 8 to 19 will have a chance gather at the University of Connecticut to learn about life and the game of basketball with the coaches and their staff. Calhoun has had a summer camp for many years. Actually my son went there when he was in 8th grade and he is a junior at Uconn now. The camp is like many that coaches hold around the country. A money making venture for the coaches where kids get instruction, run drills and play games. It has nothing to do with recruitment. Often ex players work as assistants and it is a very good experience. Calhoun usually showed up the first day and the last, but normally wasn't present beyond that. I forget how many students they had the week my son was there, but I know it numbered in the hundreds. What was great for the kids is they got to spend time on the Gampel court, shot at the hoops some and might even had a game on the court. Many current players were there practicing and the kids did get to interact with them.

True indeed, but I always thought the age limit for those camps were from anywhere around 8 to, say, 15. You're right that it has nothing to do with recruiting but the age limit allows for some kids UConn are recruiting to attend.

The camp is fun for the kids to hang out at school and sleep in the dorms. The basketball instruction however is atrocious. It's just a money grab.
