I teach Rutgers Guard Jerome Seagears brother at UAlbany. I actually had some veiled hints in the fall that all was not good there. Like many kids, Seagears was sold a Box of Soap. He thought he was going to be "the Man". He actually had offers/interest from UCLA, Notre Dame and some big name programs when he came out of Prep.

Now, he is definitely gone. He was one of three solid guards that played for Rutgers this year. IMHO ... he was damn good when he was on his game. Good enough for the NBA??? Not far ... honestly. He has a good handle and really can shoot. In fact, he has a little Microwave to him ... he gets hot from deep; and he can get to the rim quick at 6'1".

Family has been told that the NCAA MAY allow the Rutgers players to transfer without sitting out a year. Family thinks that Seagears may benefit, though, with a year of building his game. Likely destination? Miami is sounding very good with Larranaga.

He's probably better off dropping down a level, but I think those Rutgers kids should be granted a waiver.

Isn't heading to the ACC dropping down a level?

Yes, considering only 3-4 teams a year make the tournament. The others are all garbanzo.
