I know there is no guarantee we beat ISU and that Jeff had to recuse himself from our selection/seeding. But if you don't think he screwed us by having us play UK the second game doesn't know Jeff. In his heart of hearts I guarantee you Calhoun thinks that happened.
Remember Jeff's quotes in the paper addressing various conspiracies ahead of time and it reminds me of the Shakespere quote about he who protests too much.

Also, throw in the Kentucky location and Jeff and Emmert got their revenge.

It was a huge mistake giving him that $1 Big East job. If he did not have that job - no Committee Chairman position.

We didn't align the stars very well. The chair of the selection committee is a disgruntled ex-UConn athletic department employee and the president of the NCAA is a disgruntled ex-UConn athletic department employee. We need to make sure more people leave UConn with their grunts.

If it comes to fruition we can call it the Ex UConn Disgruntled Bowl

F it. Hathaway screwed us far more by being asleep at the wheel during his time on the job (and being more concerned with his bonus than fundraising, proper compliance staffing and marketing the brand) than he could with any matchup.

When the ref tosses the ball up, we start playing. We win or we lose but either result will have nothing to do with Hathaway.

Emmert may be a disgruntled former UConn employee, but not in the athletic department.

Or at least a little more gruntled.

I do agree that if Calhoun needed any additional motivation potentially playing UK in Louisville does the trick. An opportunity to deep six John Cal, Hathaway and Emmert all in one game.

I think Kentucky Fans are feeling as though they're the ones getting screwed over by having to play UConn in the 2nd round.

Come on! Do you really think Jeff influenced UK vs UConn? Please!

I wish that wasn't our fate, but if we can get past UK, granted in Louisville, the rest of our region looks winnable. UK vs UConn is a big 2nd round TV game. Not shocked by that in the least, as much as I wish it didn't happne.

Duke and Baylor are on the other side of the bracket...definitely not an easy task. UConn beating UK in Louisville will be almost impossible.

It would be worse than an impossible task to beat Louisville seeing they are not in our region.

A bakers dozen of losses, including especially putrid ones @Rutgers, @Seton Hall @Tennessee, @Providence and UCF in the Bahamas have screwed the team more than any pointy-headed types in the committee room. This isn't 1998 as the best #2 seed having to play Vince Carter in Greensboro.

Yes, I do. I took a lot of flack when I said in the Fall of 2010n the NCAA sanctions/APR would be bad and most disagreed with me. Now I think we all understand that better. It was even worse than my source thought. Little did we know that in Oct 2011 they would retroactively punish us for things we were already punished for - with a new set of retroactive rules - banned from 2013 tournament as it currently stands. Hathaway is very vindictive as is Emmert - I don't have an inside source this time - but it fits the puzzle.

Not only that, I think Iona owes their selection to JC.

ADD: UConn was not a natural match for UK by the S-curve. It had to be adjusted.

Hathaway hasn't finished just yet. People don't seem to remember that the head of the selection committee is also the head of the committee that assigns the referees to the different NCAA tournament games. So I bet we all know who Hathaway will make as the referees for our games! Just wait for it...

You are such a complete moron.

The sanctions/APR were NOT bad. The retroactive punishment has nothing to do with what you were speculating on.

Jeff Hathaway does not possess the intellect to successfully conspire to make french toast, yet alone screw UConn in a bracket. They had UConn as the top 9 seed. Completely reasonable. They could not play Syracuse. By rule, they had to play Kentucky.

Stop being a idiot.

Um, UConn did not deserve any special consideration and maybe Kentucky should be more unhappy than us. The team struggled much of the year, had distractions on and off the court, and played themselves into what they were - at best a mid seed.

We screwed ourselves for losing to UCF, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, and at home to Cincy.

Not to mention at home vs ND. One of the worst losses of our year IMO.

What's the rule? UConn played a Big East team in the 2nd round last year.

I think the committee did as good a job as I can remember. I also think Hathaway did a good jiob answering questions. He's still an ass, though.
