No we are clearly better off with Blaney as acting coach and we can bring in Bill Fith as his assistant. If this is true, how much more can JC take of all these health setbacks, I know he's the toughest SOB alive but it might be time to enjoy some leisure time and hit the links.

You mean 20 minutes. Sorry. Seriously though, this was probably announced because of the event tonight. When people will see him, they will know what is wrong.

This blog below is depressing

My Mother broke her hip: It can be really tricky. Not good in a 70 year old man even if athletic.

Know what you're sayin'. 17 years ago, my neighbor (85 at the time), broke her hip. She was like a grandmother to me. I followed her to the hospital. Sucks big time.

We always say that an elderly person breaking his/her hip is often the beginning of a rapid, merciless decline in health. There's just something about the hip. At age 70, it's not going to heal perfectly. Inactivity leads to other issues. For elderly frail people, a broken hip often means the end of any independent life.

JC can do this. He's tough. But it's a lot more difficult than it sounds when you're 18 and you hear "broken bone," which makes you think - 4-8 weeks and back in action.

This could be a big deal if he has hip replacement surgery.

Wow - not good. My dad had it, it disabling. That is the major weight bearing joint and one that doesn't bounce back 100% at 70. It gets terrible circulation and just doesn't heal well. I'd love to be optimistic on this one, but this may put a fork in it. With everything else that he's gone through physically the last few years, this one just feels like an exclamation point. If I'm the AD, I'm really starting to think about next steps at this point.

There's a huge range of possibilities from being uncomfortable to needing major surgery. To speculate, while I realize is what we do best, is futile.

University of Connecticut men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun fractured his hip while biking and will undergo surgery later tonight, the school said

Nope, it actually wasn't. It is too soon. The guy needs surgery, show some class.
Just trying to bring some humor to a tough situation. All UConn fans hope for a quick and full recovery from JC. We're all on the same team here so I didn't think it was a huge deal.

He's 70 not 95 for chrissakes, he'll be fine. But one thing though, if he wants exercise he should stick to an elliptical machine.

In all seriousness though, this is the second time he has wrecked his bike and gotten seriously hurt in two years. Maybe he should consider a little less "extensive" form of exercise, but good luck to anyone trying to convince him of that.

It was great spontaneous wit. Short, sweet and to the point. Within the simplicity of the comment laid the visual which was classic. We know any guy with the handle NOTaDIME is a Calhoun supporter. That's what made the precise comment so humorous. The "put a fork in it" comment by Ruff Ruff was also a five*****star funny comment. Choice of words sometimes is so fascinating. Leave it to a Metsfan to be so hypersensitive! hahahaahaha

A gravedigger and headstone carver turned coach. What an unreal ride it's been. He is probably the biggest reason I went to UConn. I never looked at the campus when I applied and was accepted. Saw it for the first time when my freshman year started. If I could ever meet him in person, I'd thank him for the inspiration.
