In the Texas post game Dan Hurley called him the reason for a lot of these non-con wins then went on to say that he is one of the most talented, unselfish, UConn first guys he's ever coached. He has hit timely 3s, made huge energy plays and has been at the right place/right time a bunch for us. Also, defensively hes been very solid.

In this era of NIL, where guys like him get snapped up immediately, he stayed even though he knew who was coming with this new class.

We are extremely lucky to be one of the few elite teams that keeps juniors and seniors around for their college careers.

Stew deserves his own appreciation thread. And if he's had one already he deserves a second one.

I am with you. There is a reason we are the #7 defense in the country, and Stewart is a big part of it. Solid out there on both ends of the floor, Hurley in his post-game media talked about running plays for him, which I would love to see. He may not have made that big offensive jump as of yet, but he is a noticeably better player, more dialed in, playing stronger and on the boards more, facilitating with some nice passes, and being solid with the ball. Looking to see him drive more and get that mid-range going.

Agree with everything said 100%.

We desperately need athletic defenders/stoppers and he is one who has those attributes. His expressions seem to be showing a grittiness and his time can shine when we regroup for the BE. Hoping he has made up his mind that it is his time to fill this need. The offense will come along with the D. He knows what an NC is and he can help the newbies with an attitude of doing whatever it takes. He and J. Ross are key elements to the eventual success we will have. We need an all out effort from everyone. At the end of the season they can look back and say they gave it all they had.

Kid bleeds blue and has been playing his tail off on defense. Love that he showed up big coming off the bench and in the consummate team player. Could totally see him make an NBA roster after his college career is done. Will be a bigger part of the offense next year and he will continue to improve!

We have to accept, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, that he is Giffey. Stew can hit some threes, can finish on the break, and is an excellent connector. That's his game. Once you accept that he's most likely not an NBA wing and stop expecting him to do "more," you'll recognize that he does a lot of good things out there. He's been a really good role player for this team this year, especially now that he's cut down on the defensive miscues.

He's really improved on defense. Defensive rating of 93.6 so far is phenomenal. Better than Ross and AK.
I’ve liked the ability to mix and match Stewart and Ross on defensive assignments. Stewart has strength and toughness to handle some of the bigger wings we’ve seen, where Ross tends to struggle, while Ross can keep up with some of the quicker guys where Stewart’s foot speed can be a weakness. The two really complement each other in that bench wing spot.

Ross and Stewart are luxuries that other teams do not have. Need to stop a run, put Ross in. Tight game and you need to switch offensive for defense down the stretch, they both come in handy. Both can hit shots, both can get loose for a dunk. And both are now experienced enough that they know what they are supposed to be doing when they are on the floor.

And they are long at 6-7 and 6-8. It's still the dawn part of their junior years. I'm lovin that their getting into it at exactly the right time.

if we end up on a collision course with Michigan this year, Jaylin seems like a critical defensive matchup against Lendenberg. I can’t see Alex keeping up with him.
I hear you....but we have said that several times this year and AK has held his own. I can think of the BYU, Zona and FL games as examples.
