I think it is a nice surprise to see Ross playing like he is capable of. He had 10 pts last night and did well the other games. I think Hurley knew he could be special but he didnt have a chance to show the world. Keep going Jayden and enjoy your time at UConn.

Keep seeing flashes from Ross, Smith, and Stewart. If these guys can bring their B+ to A game off the bench, there will be no drop down when the starters need rest. Any night any of these guys could throw 10-12 points on the floor with impact plays. This team can be deep if Jayden and Stewart continue their paths

Im taking a wait and see approach. Saw things from him early on last season and then he disappeared. Lets see if he has taken that next step. Ross/Stewart off the bench makes us crazy deep once Mullins is back.

Ross was the tale of two halves. I do like to see there is an upward arc in his growth and will put the inconsistency simply on the fact he hasn't played a lot of minutes prior to this season. I'm hopeful he can start stretching it out over longer periods. His jumper had really nice, effortless form.

Him offering production and a unique piece as an active player, disruptive defensively, is a nice piece to have in the event the other team has a strong alpha wing. Now we have to see him against good competition.

Like Hurley said in the post game presser... Ross and Stewart need to play well for a full forty consecutively. Showing amazing flashes and then floating for the next 60 minutes of game time doesn't work if you want to start for a championship contender. It's obvious the pieces are there; time to put them together.

He looks more comfortable out there so that’s encouraging but let’s not stroke each other just yet, the next several games will be where we find out who’s who and what’s what. I was out last night and watched the game sporadically on my phone but I did see Stew get carved up on D a couple of times which isn’t a great sign.

He was incredible in the 1st half, but where did he go in 2nd half? Was it foul trouble?

He had 4 fouls in 9 minutes in the 2nd half. His points in the first half were almost all transition kickout threes and we didn't get out in transition much in the 2nd because Columbia fouled us every time we touched the ball.

Foul trouble was part of it. 4 parts. But I cant say anybody had a good second half. Ross' first half is proof of how good he can be. He broke the game open.

Welcome to the world of Stew. Also telltale was when he tried to run some iso in the last couple minutes and got his pocket picked twice from the blind side. He just lacks awareness, there is no other way to say it. I'm not sure you can teach that. I'm starting to wonder more and more how he fits into the Uconn scheme as I've yet to identify anything he's great at.

That's not what he said ....but this is the Boneyard. He said the team need to play 40 minutes.

When referring to Stewart and Ross, he said he would like them both to play well in the same game.

Ross I think has shown signs of improvement. Stewart not so much. Obviously if Mullins is as good as advertised, we really do need him out there. I don’t know much about Furphy, but he might be an upgrade over Ross and Stewart. I love our guards. All of them. That includes Millender in the few minutes that he has played.

I watched Furphy in that international tournament. He missed many, many shots in the lane. Yes, it was a small, couple of games, sample size. He is a volume scorer. He will have to be much more efficient to get playing time with Hurley.

Ross had a great first half last night lighting up the scoreboard with threes. He also showed some really strong defense pretty consistently throughout the games and exhibitions. Excited to see if he can translate this early season confidence into the more difficult games

It was good to see Ross have a good first half. Unlike most here, I think that he is an average defender. He can jump, he can run up down the floor for sure.

When Ross first entered the game in the second half, he hit a 3, but it got erased by an offensive foul by a teammate. He then joined the rest of the team the fouling frizzy. As much as I loved the first half, I hated the second half. I don’t know if the referees decided that they had to make up for only calling 8 fouls in the first half. But neither team had any chance of establishing any type of flow in the second half.

Ross's on ball defense is good and getting better. He doesn't completely shut down his player but he makes his player work hard. In the Columbia game he had two blocks and took two charges. What stands out for me is how he watches the opposing teams half court sets. Several times in the Columbia game when a player was driving to the basket it was Ross and not our centers who was in the lane preventing an easy lay up.

He has the physical tools. He doesn't have a lot of game experience. I expect as the season progresses the debate will be over. Hoping for a positive result.

Too early for me to hop on the Ross bandwagon. Showed signs early last season versus less than competetion. Faded away to barely a bench player from 2 - 5 mins a game by Feb. on a team that lacked depth. Last 10 games he scored 10 points. I don't see what many others on this board see in Ross. Surprised/dissapointed he was back this season.

Ross’s help side defense is teaching tape.

He's always in great position to help and is ready to sprint back out at his guy in a moments notice.

Yeah but his man to man defense especially inside leaves a lot to be desired.

I think this is what @JustbrewitMan was talking about before. If we went back and tallied up the opponents FG% against Ross I'm sure it would be great.

But since we saw 2 layups against tough defense people will make comments like this. He's the best defender on the team.

Correct. He was really had defensively last season. His defense and overall game looks improved this season but we also saw what he did last season against UNH and Maryland Eastern Shore. We need to see it in games against the good teams and we need to see consistency.

Disappointed is wild ass comment, him coming back shouldn't affect you in any way.
