So he takes the place of Sniders visit. Good weekend to have him. Michigan is in town, and I believe a lot of players will be here with Calhoun being honored.

This is HUGE. I really like Newberry, but I don't know as much about him as Lyle, a proven 5 star and likely McDonalds AA. However, he says playing time is very important to him, but MEM and ARIZ both have ranked point guard recruits, and KU is obviously loaded at Guard. As I've referenced before. We are clearly the best option if he wants a pretty clear shot at starting.

The great thing about Lyle's definite commitment to UConn this weekend is that Cliff Alexander will verbal to UConn as well.

So, the class will look like this: Purvis, Hamilton, Lyle, Robinson, Alexander, Colson.

Like your Optimism Upstater with the "definite commitment" statement. Keep the good vibes coming. It ain't over till its over. Ten toes ALL IN..

From TOS:

“I want a good coach that will push me. I’m not saying that coach Pitino wasn’t going to do that, but I just want to go somewhere that I’ll go right in right away and get playing time. It’s just something we’ll have to see.”
Lyle said that he has enjoyed being back on the recruiting radar. After all, who doesn’t like being wanted? But less than 72 hours in, the attention has already overwhelmed him.
“Yeah, it’s crazy,” he said. “I didn’t miss this part.”

Sick of recruiting, you say? Then why don't you just end it this weekend?

NOW we're talking. Going up against the likes of KU and Zona rather than NCS and VCU. :)

Looks like Ray Kasongo will also be on campus officially this weekend:
@coreyevans_10: After an offer from UConn today, 2014 forward Ray Kasongo will take an official visit with JaQuan Lyle this weekend, per source

What was a bad day with Larrier is now really good with Newberry, Lyle, and Kasongo.

3uconn, where are we at in terms of open scholarships, with and without RB and DD returning? I ask only because I assume you know this off the top of your head and I would have to strain my brain to do so. well, at least do things like writing lists and counting and stuff like that.

WOW!!! No one can ever accuse Ollie of not working hard. He is relentless on the recruiting trail. I can't remember when we have been involved with this many top targets. Yes we had some misses, but it is obviously not because a lack of effort from the coaching staff. Makes you feel good about the future of the program with him at the helm.

Don't like Newberry going on the official with them. Beggars can't be choosers though.

Anyways, this is a good sign. Hopefully Ollie can really throw everything at him. We need Kemba, Ray, Drummond, EVERYONE to be on campus lol

3 open even if boat and DD stay, already counting DH. If those 2 leave, that's 5. So, we could take Lyle/Newberry, Kasongo, and Devin Robinson. Plus Colson hedging that either RB or DD leave.

I'm wondering if we are approaching the time where we need to have a ceremonial, ritual sacrifice......in other words, a hanging, to appease the mojo and to dampen at least one Boneyarder who has strayed into negativity and downer-ness. Who could that be, I wonder?

Schollies this year (13): Napier, Boat, Omar, DD, Tyler, Giff, Kromah, Samuel, Nolan, Facey, Brimah, Tolksdorf, and Purvis (still a scholarship while redshirting)

Schollies guaranteed to lose (4): Napier, TO, Giff, Kromah
Schollies possible to lose (2): DD, Boat
Schollies in so far (1): Hamilton

Apparently Cliff Alexander recently tweeted that he and Lyle will be playing college bball together. Both are interested in Kansas and Arizona. But why even make the trip to UConn if thats true right?

That's a very good possibility given that Jim Calhoun's tribute is this weekend, too.

Great news!

Hopefully this package deal isn't too serious. UConn is the only school out of the four Lyle plans to visit, that hasn't set up a visit with Alexander (Not sure if we ever recruited him). Although a package of Alexander and Lyle would certainly fulfill our needs for a PF and PG.

I know many people here like to be the last visit, but glad we are scheduled to be the first. The past few weeks has showed us a recruit may never even make it to campus for his visit (Perkins, White)

Pretty sure we did recruit Alexander briefly during the spring and last year, but he currently has a final 8(ish) already. However, Jabari Parker had a final 10 a year ago, before adding us to his list ex post facto. Obviously we weren't major players, but it's the thought that counts. In a sentence, Alexander would be nice to try and jump on, but he is highly unlikely to make us a player in his sweepstakes.
