An old villain of ours lost his job today. SMU was on the bubble this season and made the NIT, but SMU hasn't made the tournament since that 2016-2017 team that had multiple NBA players on the roster (Ojeleye, Milton, Brown, etc).

He is 62 and has been a coach since 1983 - definitely a real possibility he's just done with it.

Lanier has done a solid job at Georgia State since taking over Ron Hunter: 53-30 record, one season regular season champions and this season conference tournament champions. Also coached at Siena between 01-02 and 04-05.

If there's an exodus from Georgia State, I'd be interested in poaching Justin Roberts. After a year at DePaul, Roberts averaged 12.5p, 3.6a, 1.5s, 44.4 2p%, 37.5 3p%, 79.2 ft% over three years at Georgia State. I could see him playing a role similar to Jamir Harris did at Seton Hall.

I think SMU was one of the few teams that actually got snubbed this year. Could have/should have easily been put in place of one of the middling "last four in" or "last four byes" high major teams. Iona too, really.
