James Bouknight articles

Who stood out at the National Prep Showcase?
After impressing as a junior, James Bouknight flew below the radar this past spring and summer due to a knee injury. He’s back healthy, in great shape and was impressive in MacDuffie’s one game in the event. Bouknight showed an extra burst of speed, quality athleticism and a versatile scoring package. He made a pull-up three, a pull-up jumper, got to the rim in the half court and made plays in transition. Bouknight scored 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting and reeled in five rebounds.

He really had 17. He had a putback tap-in early that was credited to Springs because he had inside position but it was really JB’s hand that made the contact. Happened on the hoop right below where I was perched about 5-6 min into the first.

Bouk is the real deal, will start immediately for us. One of the problems we’ve had for a while now is that our guards are undersized and dribble too much and are in efficient shooters. He’s a big catch and triple threat off the ball guy. A piece we’ve been needing.

He [Bouknight] saw Hurley rush over and pull Josh Carlton out of the stands in UConn’s opener. “His energy is amazing,” Bouknight said. “He’s one of the best coaches in the country. Hands down.”
