A bit different than another Kentucky Wildcat Antoine Walker from Celts (amongst other teams) being broke.

Mash is, well, crushing it.

"Jamal Mashburn earned more than $75 million before his career was cut short by a serious knee injury. But he has put together a powerful post-basketball business dossier which includes 37 Papa John's pizza restaurants, 30 Outback Steakhouses, two car dealerships and a real estate company in the state of Kentucky."

He needs to teach some classes to the players. One retired NBA player owns 20-30 Wendy's. Employing people while making money is always a win/win.

That is what a good Catholic education will do for you! (Cardinal Hayes)

Does he have more money than Sergey Brin? Grad of Eleanor Roosevelt High in Greenbelt, Maryland?

Compare that to Mark Brunnell, who earned 75 million over his career as quarterback and is broke.

Big difference between being a business owner and having money.

For example, GM, big business, went bankrupt.

"Owning" a house doesn't make you rich.

FWIW - I hope the guy is doing great. If not, he's in bad businesses for an extended recession (depression).

Plus he has 20, no 21 Kookaroo's. People love chicken. He's gonna be fine. How many Kookaroo's do you have? ...... Not one! Y'all are f&cked!

Guess he was smart enough not to invest it in Tate George's ponzi scheme.

Or invest it in Corny's restaurant.

Or with Lenny Dykstra (not basketball I know)

Mashburn's in business with Pitino and the Outback guy in many of the ventures.

Rick Avare, Pitino's agent, Business Manager, and financial advisor, is the brains behind the group.

A Josh Nachimson he is not.

--------------------------------------------------------------
One recent online solicitation for Outback franchises required a $75,000 up front fee and $6.5 million line of credit for ownership of four restaurants.

The LEXINGTON (KY) HERALD-LEADER confirmed Mashburn’s restaurant business interests in March, 2008, including the identity of his very high profile partner.
In 2000, an investor group including Mashburn, (Rick) Pitino and Rick Avare completed the purchase of 70 percent of Toyota on Nicholasville and the Lexus Store of Lexington on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville.
Two years later, the trio picked up Ron McCauley as a business partner and bought Toyota of Richmond. McCauley eventually bought out his partners. He sold the dealership in 2007.
Other restaurant ventures for Mashburn, Pitino and Avare include 35 Outback Steakhouses throughout California.
Mashburn and Avare, along with McCarty, who is an assistant coach at U of L and played under Pitino with the Boston Celtics, are partners in a company that owns and operates 28 Papa John’s pizza restaurants in six states.
