"Uconn's practices were harder than they had ever experienced" Dangerfield said that 2 weeks into official practices. She said: "Nothing I did or experienced in high school or AAU prepared me for what I'm going through now". I agree that there may be some fans that (based on the hype) may be expecting a little too much from them, especially at the beginning of the season. Confidence like morale is an emotion that can be easily swayed. Christyn is (at this point) extremely confident. If there is such a thing as "an average freshman", these two don't appear to fit into that category. That's a sleeping giant I'm going to let lie for the moment. The stark reality of Geno's "boot camp for freshmen" will bite them square in the butt come October. Let them have their fun until then. I'll wait until the Christmas break (11 games in) before I decide how excited and optimistic I'm going to be the 2nd half of the season. Being freshmen, they can only do so much. They're going to hit that wall, and make freshman mistakes. We already know that. Those are growing pains they'll have to endure. The returning starters should bear the brunt of the expectations for the team's success this year, not the freshmen. They'll be fine. Remember, they'll have their coaches to "wet nurse" them, and their teammates to support and encourage them the entire season. Let's just enjoy the ride and the scenery for now, and then assess things at the holiday break. By then, we'll have a book on every player, and a pretty good idea of what kind of team we have, as well as their strengths and weaknesses against the other other top ranked teams they've played to that point. ;)
