Unanimous decision by league Council of Presidents: "The trend for transmission of COVID-19 overwhelmed the desire for athletic competition."

Looks like they will not play a delayed season in the spring either, as they are not going to play any canceled fall sports in the spring, and aren't going to start any spring sports until March, if at all.

Also, regarding players retaining this year of eligibility: "The league has not changed its policies on allowing graduate students to play sports, despite the NCAA granting every winter athlete a free year this season."

(The Ivy League was the first conference to withdraw its teams from the men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments last year, before the NCAA cancelled them.)

I doubt it. It's a lot easier to cancel sports when you have multi-billion dollar endowments and your TV contracts bring in pennies.

It will be interesting what the long term effects of this are. Most IVY League athletic departments are funded from Alumni donations/endowments. I can't believe that their all too happy to have seasons cancelled.
