At 18:42 (remaining) of the 1st half, Caroline got a defensive rebound about 5 feet in front of the
basket. She hustled up court with the ball; and just before crossing mid-court she made a long pass to Tiffany in the left corner. Immediately after releasing the pass to Tiff, Caroline ran into a DePaul defender -- and their knees banged together. Caroline's left knee hit the right knee of the DePaul player.

It looked more like a "bang into" than a twist or bend contact. CD kept running for ten to fifteen seconds (perhaps two possessions) until play stopped; and then she started rubbing her left knee. When play resumed, Caroline tried to run, but she was clearly not normal. At 18:14 she started hopping on her right leg - and avoiding stress on her left knee. At 17:42, CD goes to the bench and KML enters.

CD was clearly in pain -- both physical and mental -- when she got to the bench. The look on her face was awful. And she went to the trainer's room with Rosemary.

The doctors and coaches say they don't think CD has damaged the structure of her knee. They think it is mostly a "bruise". The "bruise" description looks right from watching the video replay -- but there is no telling how much strain (or sprain) there was at the moment of collision.

I am hopeful it was just a "bruise", and CD will be OK after a few days of rest.

I am astonished that none of the TV announcers or the press guys could find any "moment of injury" concerning CD. CPTV spent a lot of time looking for it. I saw it clearly the first time I watched the replay of the game this morning.

GOOD LUCK, CD. We are all praying for you.

Good eyes, but that's no surprise. I think what mislead CPTV was that they were looking for her to be limping, and they found that, and found that second before she wasn't limping, so failed to realize they needed to back up another full minute or so.

Well this is the incident to which you refer. I don't see it as you described. Her left knee (the knee in question) does not seem to suffer a bang on this incident. Her left leg seems to swing free and beyond the defender's body. In either case this could still be the incident that aggrevated her knee as the timing is right and her left leg does get twisted and she lands very awkwardly.

they hit each other on the ground, not in the air. It could very well be a twist that hurt her knee too.

But seeing as her knee was "stable" I'm thinking it was most likely a bang. (or hoping)

I saw the same thing but she does start favoring it almost immediately thereafter.

Feel terrible for the kid. Hoping for the best for her.

A bruise can keep a player out for a prolonged period of time as well. Best to rest her and take every precaution necessary. It will give Banks a great opportunity to learn on the fly. If doty can contribute in march, that would be huge for your chances at a final four run.

Personally, I think it would be better for banks to play in order to keep Hartley off the ball. I think she works much better at the two spot than the point, but obviously geno will have to work with what he's got.
