Ok....I changed it from crap to spam, but it doesn't change the next 7 games.

Hopefully this stretch of conference foes will allow UConn to get healthy and fine tune their player rotations.

I was looking forward to the next games until I read your description.

I still will watch all 40 minutes of every game and get to a few of the remaining home games.

It might be spam for opponents but UConn is filet mignon.

Like the old Wendy's commercial, "Where's the beef?"

We thought Duke might be prime steak, but they were mystery meat.

Good point. My original crap sandwich had better bread than Duke ended up being.

Hopefully Baylor will be a little stale as well.

This is the part of the season where the team is very generous giving the fans an opportunity to see practice. Every year we read on the Boneyard about how we poor fans don't get to see practice. They listened, and now you get to see.

Is that what they are calling the Providence and Seton Hall games now?

Maybe there's some sort of word play contest on City, Vatican and State that might add to the apparent level of upcoming competition. And, for those who want to go there, maybe having a newly configured BE Conf will, in future, result in fewer stretches like the one coming up now.

I said "maybe" :-p

Providence knocked off Villanova last night, in OT, despite 'Nova having a 19-pt lead at halftime. That halftime speech might've been better than Geno's at the Duke game. Sometime this summer, Geno's gonna let Harry know about it, too.

He might remind Harry at dinner the night before the Villanova game.

Sorry, but I cannot resist.

I guess you needed better waiters or needed waiters at finer restaurants to bring you better meat. :)

It is not good JuJu to underestimate Villanueva or St Johan's

I want to see a good game in the sense of crisp execution of UConn Basketball. If that happens, we'll learn something while we win.

Why does this sound agonizingly, horrifyingly familiar to UConn fans?

No need to wait that long. Harry called Geno to vent:

Auriemma heard from one of his closest friends this morning when Villanova Harry Perretta called to vent about the second-half meltdown resulting in a loss to Providence. At some point, the conversation turned to rumors that the Catholic 7 could be out of the Big East at the end of the 2012-13 season.

"He had just taken his head out of the microwave because he lost to Providence so what did the associate Provost Harry Perretta have to say? He said that a couple of Catholic (school) Presidents are meeting to discuss what is happening (in the coming days). He thinks they won't be in the league next.year."

This really is an awful stretch of games. At one time, I thought the Rutgers game might be slightly worrisome because it would be a rivalry game played at the RAC with the possibility of Uconn looking ahead to Baylor, but not with how Rutgers has played this season.

We play in two leagues now, one the ghost of the Beast, and the other the fantastic WBB league that Geno creates for the team every year working with his peers. Gotta deal...but we need a few more teams for the Peers League. Can't wait to see UNC next year, for example and hope we play them in a couple of years...

The Rutgers game is worrisome in aesthetics only. Ugly basketball can be contagious. I can't see RU getting to 50.

It is an interesting year in terms of conference competitiveness across the country. The Big East is definitely down this year, but who is up?
ACC - Duke and ... MD should have been competitive before injuries, UNC is 'meh', anybody else really playing well?
Big 10 - Penn State and ????
Big 12 - Baylor and ???? Oklahoma - injury probably derailed them.
Pac 10 is actually looking a little more competitive this year but is that because the others are actually better or has Stanford slipped back towards them?
SEC may actually have the best top half they've had in years, but not sure.

All things considered with Uconn and ND and then Louisville, Syracuse the BE is still probably the strongest at the top, but the middle has fallen on tough times, and the basement is still pretty sad. I get the sense that there is less quality below the top couple of teams in all the conferences this year with the possible exceptions of maybe the Pac 10 and SEC. In conference ND/Uconn will win out except when they play each other, Baylor shouldn't be challenged, Penn State should win out, Duke might drop one game if they play poorly to either MD or UNC.
