Just looking around the NCAAW world it looks like a lot of teams held their first practice today. We are also getting some media day interviews. Exciting times.

The National Champions invited by the new university president to the President’s House the day before the season’s first practice (Laeticia Amihere (World Cup), Olivia Thompson, Kierra Fletcher, Coach Jolette Law not pictured).

As we get closer to the season I'm more excited about Louisville. They kinda feel like they are being slept on.

Really? Why?
Why am I excited about them? I do think they had some big losses this off season. Not just emballer but I always thought Kianna Smith was underrated. Tbh, I thought she was a pro.
But I like what they did in the transfer portal. I also really like Peyton Verhulst. She had a quiet freshman year but she can play multiple positions and is real good athlete. I think she'll make a leap this season and I like pairing her with Morgan Jones on the wing. Then I think Olivia Cochran is pretty skilled and talented as well. So I sortve think they'll be a bit more balanced offensively this year. Of course Hailey Van Lith is their primary go to player but hopefully they'll have multiple players help her out scoring wise.

If they do take a small step back, it will be because the ACC is just really strong and got better, not necessarily that they got worse, IMO.

Sorry, should have been clearer. I was referring to the "slept on" comment.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Louisville does this season too. The transfers additions are great, but I do wonder if this pushes Konno and Russell further down the depth chart for guards. After seeing how Russell played at GloblJam, I hope she gets more opportunities. I'm also curious to see how Mobley does because she was a redshirt last season due to her early enrolment (or that's why I think she was a redshirt).

Michigan is another team that's interesting. Do they completely fall off without Naz. Like miss the tournament fall off. I really like their returning players. I like their size on the wings with phelia and leigha brown and GK. They also have a good coach.

It's the frontcourt depth for me regarding Michigan. Who takes over in the post for Hillmon? Brown doesn't play inside like her, and I'm not sure if Kiser can make up the production. Varejo, Williams and Sollom all played sparingly.

Phelia will make strides this season. Their other freshman guard, Wiggins I believe, dealt with injuries off and on. Hopefully Hobb breaks through in her sophomore year. I expected to see more based on her play during the non-conference portion of the schedule. Kampschroeder is an intriguing addition to the roster. Looking forward to seeing how Coach Arico utilizes her.

If my last name had five syllables and my husband's had four, I think I'd find a way not to use both. ; )

I agree. Michigan, like a host of other teams, is going to be interesting to see how they put something together without Naz. Naz was Michigan's offense and now that she has graduated and moved on to the WNBA, where she did a decent job playing, it is going to be interesting to see who steps up or what Coach Arico puts together. Even more important, who has separated themselves from the pack.

Phelia has a decent game it was just so inconsistent, and I wonder if they were because of what was part of the game plan or her choice to sacrifice for the team. Same with a lot of Michigan players. Hobbs, with her size, 6'4", is my breakout pick for this season. Brown is solid and glad that she is still with the Michigan program. Kiser is another solid player and another solid vet. Same with Williams. It is going to be interesting to see how the pieces all come together for Coach Arico. Michigan has some solid pieces just a matter of the coaching staff putting something together that fits the personnel.

I liked this article. IU is an interesting team. I think because they lost by double figures to UConn in the tourney, ppl are overlooking them.

Agreed i think they take the Big10 over Iowa and Maryland this season . IU played UCONN tough for one half but could not withstand a full 4 QTRS.

Texas certainly has the talent. How far they go is going to be determined if everyone is healthy and if the chemistry is right.
Exactly. I like their talent and transfers a lot, but chemistry is important. I believe in Shaylee's talent but the big 12 is a step up in competition. I think they just had their first practice so I'm interested in hearing how she's adjusting, whether she'll start.

Thoughts on Texas? This is their Final Four breakthrough season IMO.
I think we're a Final Four contender for sure. If we get to the FF in Dallas, the 'Horns will have a huge homecourt advantage.
