To beat a dead horse on another thread, the time to plan to expand the Rent is NOW:

While Nippert Stadium only holds about 35,000, the university recently announced plans to raise $70 million for renovations, improvements, and expansion. They also have played games at Paul Brown Stadium, the 67,000 capacity home of the Bengals.​

IIRC, I think I read that the University of Utah promised to expand its 45,000 seat stadium (which had been expanded from 32,000 to 45,000 in anticipation of the 2002 Winter Olympics) to 55,000-60,000, together with a number of other facilities upgrades and additions (for example, the university did not have its own track and field complex, having used a neighboring high school's).

So, Kevin's post is a very realistic option. UConn need only be willing to commit to expand the Rent to get the invite (although it couldn't hurt to announce or leak such intentions if no invite from elsewhere is in the works).

This perception that would be bottom feeders in the ACC is complete BS.

.....UConn has a decent football program, which has won shares of the Big East Championship over the past few years. However, in any other conference (except for potentially the ACC), the Huskies would be a bottom feeder team.......

We beat MD, played NC ST tight and we are better than Duke or BC at this moment. That could be different next year, but I think we are and would be in the mid-tier.
