Whoa.

"Among the findings [of the investigation] were that every student-athlete reported “concerns regarding alleged emotional or mental mistreatment” by Joseph, and that student-athletes described the environment around the team as “toxic,” “suffocating,” “unhealthy” and “hostile” and described Joseph’s conduct as “bullying” and “emotionally, mentally and verbally ‘abusive.’”"

I will say this, it does seem like Tech did exactly what they should do when presented with such accusations: they immediately hired an outside investigator, interviewed all relevant parties, suspended the coach pending a third-party investigation, provided her with the opportunity to respond, and then moved forward, including by bringing the information to the attention of the NCAA, all without a single leak about the procedures while they were ongoing. All things considered, this seems like a model for how such investigations should take place.

Depends. Where is the dividing line between yelling at players and abuse? There definitely is a line, make no mistake, but can be hard to exactly place it. Particularly in an ever changing culture.
Perception is the reality. The era of Bobby Knight is over in college basketball. Don't know the facts, I just believe that in today's media, this story will likely not have a pleasant ending.

Georgia Tech has some nice players. Wouldn't Elizabeth Dixon look good in a UConn uniform.

Only if she can get the Jessica Shephard waiver
Well!. I'll take a crack at the waiver application to the NCAA:
Dear NCAA,
these kids have suffered enough, they were being abused while at GT. It is right there in GT commissioned report. LET THEM PLAY NOW!.

That ought to do it. I actually wept a little while reading it.

I was kidding before now that I've read this report I feel like an ass. These kids were really being abused according to multiple staff members.

Here's a link to Joseph's (redacted) response letter - Joseph response

After reading the investigator's report and Joseph's response, all I can say is YIKES.

I am not naive to the fact that there is stuff going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, but this has to be a FAR, FAR greater amount of behind the scenes drama than is normal.

A small sample:

More and more players are getting that, and while the reasoning has not been clear, it seems like coaching changes are almost guaranteed waivers.
Who knows? AEH got the waiver, and Promise Taylor did not. Taylor was the one that transferred because of a coaching change.

It's the NCAA. Go figure.

Holy Mackerel! A 13-page response? Wow...the last couple of weeks have been very interesting, with the Tennessee drama and the GaTech situation.

I went back and watched a couple of Georgia Tech games including the their last game of the season against North Carolina. IMO Dixon is not ready for prime time and it would take a major leap for her to get there. Her conditioning was abysmal especially for this late in the season-UNC game. Two times up and down the court and she had to put her hands on her knees to catch her breath. The most annoying part is that she is a drifter-meaning she moves just enough out of position in the post to be savagely ineffective. Just 1 or two steps but it always results in her being out of position. You know how they say some kids have a nose for the ball-that's not Dixon. Dixon was far too content to let someone else get the rebound even when she was the tallest player on the court. Way too often that someone else was on the other team. Offensively she has a good skill set (face up game) and she can finish with either hand. She missed enough uncontested bunnies to build a condo and seemed to always be in a rush. The UNC game was the one where Bailey was suspended so Dixon should not have had much resistance inside. Dixon mostly stopped herself though. A replay of the game is available on watch ESPN would love to get some more opinions on Dixon. @triaddukefan, were you at that UNC vs. GT game?

Elizabeth Dixon was not good in the game played in College Park. She only scored two points, two rebounds and had three fouls and was a non factor in the game at 6'5".
