How they play team defense... how they approach the offense end of the floor... the BB IQ all around... the overall effort of their players... with a bunch of no name - lesser 'athletic' players. I see why they are 14-0. Feeling jealous... or feeling like a tar heel fan when Bill Guthrie and Matt Dougherty were coaching... Even Utah State (13-3) ...who they are playing right now... is playing with a high BB IQ and passion. I need to go eat a big bowl of ice cream. I miss UCONN basketball...

San Diego State has always had good defense.

What makes them dangerous this year is that they haven't had an offensive weapon in Malachi Flynn since Kawhi Leonard.

Like the Kawai led team of 2010-2011, this year's team has four players averaging 10+ ppg and that doesn't even include KJ Feagin who was a former 17 ppg scorer at Santa Clara. Back then he hit 44% of his FGs and this year he's only at 33%. Once Feagin starts hitting shots, watch out.

Add in the fact that they play a legit nine guys in their rotation with two guys at 6'10+ and a Jordan Caroline clone in Matt Mitchell. Real potential in this team and glad to have watched them play this morning versus a very good, but underperforming Utah State team.

After a tough non-conference schedule that included wins over Iowa, Creighton, BYU and Utah, beating Utah State away was their toughest conference matchup of the year. KenPom gives them a 6.2% chance to go undefeated in the regular season.

The only team in the KenPom era to make the Final 4 with an offensive efficiency # higher than 30 was Bazz/UConn @ 39. San Diego State sits with an AdjO # @ 39 today. Any team with a solid shot at making a final 4 run should use top 30 as a barometer.

UConn was the exception.

They start 3 four star recruits, a three star and a grad student from New Zealand who played at St Mary's and Vanderbilt
Maybe no names on the east coast but folks on the west coast line from Californis to Washington know who most of these kids are
Good solid team with a well groomed coach
