At the final four in St. Louis in 2001, we lost to ND in the semi-finals (I was there.) It resulted in a toughness in the team that led to an undefeated season the following year.

I want to go on record as saying history will repeat.

Yep. KML as DT. She didn't have as horrific a game as DT did, but I bet it fuels her fire the next three years.

I think we repeat 2011. We lose to ND. Stanford loses to a Texas team. The Texas team beats ND.

I'm rooting for the Texans in this one. (And I can hardly believe that I just said that.)

More similarities to 2001; we lose to Notre Dame in the regular season and then win the Big East Tournament, then lose to them in the semifinal game in the final four. But, I hope that Tuesday night is a repeat of last year and not 2001. And with that I say Sic 'Em Bears (as much as it hurts to say that)

Yep. I am not rooting for either team. I sort of had a hunch that Baylor would be here at this point...great PG, dominant center, good coach. Recipe for success.

If ND wins I might attempt something drastic...

No sharp objects for you! Maybe a padded room for 48 hours? :)

Honestly, ND winning wouldn't break my heart. UConn is going to win championships again in the near future, and the inevitability of Baylor isn't all that exciting a conclusion to this WCBB season.

The only difference is that ND won't win the title this year

The other difference is that the 2001 team was the best team in the history of WCBB, before injuries derailed our season.

This team was the first year in a rebuilding process after losing the best talent in program history.

Huge myth.
The 01 team was healthy when it got its butt kicked in South Bend.

01 had a great collection of talent; it was not the best UConn team.

How much does ND have in its tank after last night.......Baylor wins going away.......Peters in foul trouble early....

You are certainly right that Sveta and Shea were both able to play in the ND game which we lost by 15 points.

However, if I remember right Shea was not the same player her senior year that she had been. If memory serves, I remember being at the TN game in Hartford (the one right after a big blizzard) and being shocked at Shea's complete inability to elevate (think Stef Dolson). So I think injuries may have played somewhat of a role.

I think you're right though that it's almost impossible to argue that the 2001 team was the best ever in light of the losses to ND. (As an aside though I have to say that ND team was awfully, awfully good. Better than a run of the mill NCAA champion.)

At the same time, when I look on paper at who the Huskies had on the roster in 2001, it's hard to argue that it didn't have the most talent. I mean, Sveta, Shea, Sue, Dee, Swin on one team!! Not to mention Asja and Tamika.

Best team and most talent are two very different things of course.

Hmm, the 1995, 2002, 2009, and 2010 teams do not understand what that is. That's why they're all better than the 01 team.
Nope. And it's not even close.

If it's 2001 again, I'm selling all my Enron and Worldcom stock right now, taking advantage of that pre-Euro exchange rate and doing some travelling, and buying an iPod- a breakthrough MP3 music player that packs up to 1,000 CD-quality songs into an ultra-portable, 6.5 ounce design that fits in your pocket!!!

I just love the bare knuckles between you guys and gals! I do suspect that Baylor was as gassed as anyone after last night. I'd just as soon see ND win if its a knock down drag out fight fairly ref'd.
