I don't think so. The BE was known for physicality and recruiting was built around that expectation. Pitt had freaking football looking players. Most teams were in beast mode. How Nova survived still baffles me probably has to do with those tough Philly kids. Teams then had to be more tough than skilled as finesse wasn't necessarily effective. Nowadays even with us it looks like finesse is back in style.

Not to get all nostalgic but back then games were wars not events. In fact JC's career was built on beast mode winning all wars.

That would be a no. The Big East tried a six foul experiment when they had guys like Alonzo Mourning and Dikembe Mutombo in the league.
