How long until DeBoer is fired and Alabama is begging Saban to come back for a year or two while they conduct a more thorough search for his successor?

Don't be stunned if the SEC and Big 10 push for a 16-team format with all at-larges.

Let’s be honest, no one in big 12 or ACC would finish in top 5 of SEC and maybe tOSU or Oregon top 3. I understand cheering against them, but SC would be conf champ of ACC or B12

Well then the playoffs should be easy then
I would be surprised if BIG or SEC does not win CFP. ACC and BIG12 not that good. I think surprise team out of those conferences is SMU. So far most complete team.

In the pre-NIL era that was true, but look how quickly the top of college football is getting reshuffled. Some traditional powers like Florida State and Clemson just don't have the NIL resources of up and comers, and Georgia and Alabama may be just a year or two behind them. Even BYU and SMU have more NIL than Clemson and FSU, not to mention the likes of Oregon which will be national champion soon, maybe this year.

With Phil Knight lining Oregon's NIL pockets, the Ducks could become to football what the John Wooden Bruins were to college basketball...

We will see soon enough. Personally, I’m expecting another SEC coronation

That's fine if it happens. The best team deserves to be champion.

What should never happen is some P2 team with 3 losses getting an at-large invitation. When the P2 cartel does that, they will be shooting their own dicks off. They are just too dumb and greedy to see it.

Why. The best teams should be in the CFP. If not then everyone should play cream puff schedules like Indiana.

TIL Michigan is creampuff.
Michigan is 500 team this year. They do not have a QB. Indiana was completely dominated by Ohio State. The score should have been much worse. Indiana would be a little better than 500 team in the SEC.

As FUBAR as CR is, serious journalists shouldn't joke like this. I don't doubt this will happen, and maybe this is just his prediction. The mothership can't be too happy about Brett trolling the SEC like this. I actually didn't realize he was away from espn for so long.

I think CR has finally hit it's bursting point. The perennial power schools in the P2 are no longer running away with the conference because you keep adding the best schools from other conferences. What do you expect will happen when you add UT and OU? They'll just become doormats? That's not why they were added. There are only so many wins to go around and with NIL now in full play, you'll see a school like USCe pull off a good season from time to time. 3 loss SEC teams are going to be the norm moving forward. Fanbase used to steamrolling their conference (Bama, UGA) are in for a rude awakening due to outrageous CR. It hasn't hit the B1G totally like it has the SEC, but it will. You don't add USC, Oregon, UW, and UCLA and expect them to stink and the status quo of UM and OSU ruling the roost to remain.

This is why in the future 3 loss teams will make the CFP. If the two P2 conferences have the majority of the best football teams then of course they will be the majority of the CFP teams and some will have three losses.

Not true. FSU spent a ton of money and just put together a team of mercenaries that play terrible as a team. The key is having good players through development (recruiting) and filling holes through the portal with star players or difference makers. Example finding a stud QB through portal makes sense. Finding a full offensive line or defensive line through portal does not work.

Here is the top 15 schools for NIL. FSU is number 7.

LOL which P2 team do you root for? Cause you are definitely spouting the cartel's propaganda.

The problem is, that attitude is going to hurt the sport's revenues in the long run. The cartel thinks they can grab a bigger slice of a growing pie; but the pie itself will disappear when the "college football" playoffs become the "P2" playoffs. It's just bad business. .

Are you not listening to the many posters here who are disgusted with the cartel's actions and their impact on the sport? You think there will be no reckoning in the sport's ratings and revenues? We are all supposed to pick a P2 team and start rooting for it?

LOL good luck with that. And by the way, they will ruin men's bb too. Greed, stupidity, and short term thinking tend to go together.

Wow. I think someone needs to see a medical professional. We were talking about who should make the playoffs. I think best teams should make it. By the way I think there is way too much emphasis on college sports in the USA. The kids at the highest level are not even going to school and just there to play a sport. Living outside the USA for the last 20 years all my foreign friends or nonUSA colleagues never talk about their schools sports teams. Happy Thanksgiving!

Didn't Clemson elect to not participate in NIL? IFRC, Dabo doesn't believe in it.

LOL nice one with the "medical professional" remark. The standard insult from someone in way over his head in a debate.

It's cool you think the best teams should make the playoffs, and those who think your comment is too simplistic should seek medical help.

Would you change the NFL playoffs too, so that any division winner under 0.500 is excluded? After all, such a team is clearly not one of the best teams.

You are entirely missing the reason the playoffs are expanding to 12 teams, and perhaps beyond. It is not because a four-team playoff will fail to include the "best team".

It is a money grab. They are taking advantage of the massive public interest in college fb to cash in.

An exclusionary playoff is antithetical to that. Once they make it a P2 playoff, the public is not going to maintain the level of interest they have now.

You believe this yourself--your own comment betrays it. Everything after the insult and the "best teams" cliche, basically.
