Nah Bazz don't dunk. Lol

Seriously Bazz does have that herky jerky style but Bazz seemed to always find a way to go straight up (or slightly back) on his shot. Cassell was going left/right/all over in that video on his shot. I could see him needing to work on that a bit. Bazz also dribbled better (based on video and one love game) and created more separation. Cassell is taller and probably doesn't need as much separation.

With Cassell,Purvis,Tsam and Boat in our backcourt next year with an improved Brimah,Nolan and Facey i can easily envision another trip to the F4 next season. with the way Tsam and Boat were defending at the end of the year and Ollie saying Purvis "is like having a Ferrari in the garage you cant drive" we are going to terrorize opposing backcourts all season. Oh yeah, theres also DHam! Man! next season is going to be fun.

He does have a step back jumper that looks a lot like Napier's at times, but he's a completely different kind of cat.

(Napier said he learned it from Kemba...but I saw a high school clip of Napier's the other day and there it was, so I think he was likely born with it. (Right down to the leg kick...)).

He's not the athlete that Purvis is - actually, it's hard to tell exactly what kind of player he is. He took a ton of threes last year and made about 33% of them - more than half of his shot attempts were threes which is just way too much. (He toned it down a bit in conference games.)

He takes some incredibly awkward shots, but he scores on about 56% of his two-point attempts so it works for him. He's also a terrific free throw shooter (80%) and he gets to the line an awful lot.

He looks like he's a step closer to the scoring side of a combo guard - really hard to predict what kind of impact he'll have next year, though. He'll be 22 with three years of eligibility remaining - that's a plus in the Sean Kilpatrick mold.

Having seen him play twice, Fishy is spot on. Combo guard, takes a lot of off-balance shots and is always at the line. Old man crafty game, average athlete at best. A lot to like, but see him more Rashad (not as pure a shooter but better driver by a mile) than Bazz/Kemba. Very cerebral like Bazz tho. His team had a ton of size in waves, in both games way more than other teams (and this was playoffs) so he really wasn't needed closer to basket.

Tough guy to make a good UConn comp to, shooting squared up needs work but obviously fixable. Shot maker though for sure. I see him as a sixth man type.

I think Cassell is going to be really good. He already seems to have a lot of poise and high BB IQ. The only way that I can see him not being really good is if the D1 game is too fast for him, but I don't think that is likely either. He's smooth and seems to know how to vary speeds to get enough separation to get his shot off.

What guards we're going to have next year! No one is going to replace Bazz, but it looks like we'll have more depth than we had this year. I hope he can also develop into a very good passer...some signs of that in the videos.

Did he start school late?

He was a non-qualifier for Maryland and sat out his first year of Juco. He essentially is a year behind where he should be so he will have 3 years of eligibility left when he arrives this fall.

Yep, that leg out at an angle, looks like Bazz.

No one could replace Bazz. No one could replace Kemba. No one could replace Bengi. No one could replace Ricky Moore, or AJ or El Amin or any of 'em.

Luckily, he doesn't have to.

I don't believe in messing with a guy's shot if he can shoot.. and from that video, he can shoot. Doesn't matter if you're leaning one way or the other, it's all about the release point and he seems to be able to duplicate his release point from any angle (a la Ray Allen). He can get his jumpshot off his dribble (and he makes it). That's something I always look for in a guard.

If I close one of my eyes he looks like Bazz. But everyone that looks really good on the court kinda reminds me of Bazz right now.

One of the things this past team did very well was take good shots (Bazz excluded). I assume that is coaching, Cassell would benefit greatly from taking good shots, as he does have good form (mostly).

The one big thing I see is his ability to lull you to sleep and then drop a shot with a ridiculously fast release. Doesn't look like he has anywhere near the change of speed bazz does though. he's one speed and crafty.
