UConn is working with Clinton to have them remove, overtime, there logo which looks an awful lot like the university's husky logo. The biggest difference? No tongue. Many people have said that they'd prefer the logo without the tongue. So what do you think?

I always thought that UConn's Logo was too cute. I wish it was a little more intimidating.

Maybe the Powers-that-Be think it lulls their opponents into a false sense on security and then pounce on them. Its worked for 3 National Championships since 1999. It will be interesting to see results going forward...

I think UConn should just ask TheUConnBlog.com to use their logo. It's the best husky logo I've seen yet.

That high school's had that husky logo for almost 60 years. Although it looks just like UConn's logo without the open mouth & tongue (especially this more detailed version UConn was using up to about 10 years ago), I don't get why UConn's marketing department is making an issue of this now. Not to mention plenty of high schools in this & other states use logos that are knock-offs of pro & collegiate logos. Just seems like bad press for them.

I went from a Morgan Husky to a UConn Husky. Leave our Husky alone.

This exact same thing happened in Westborough, MA. The high school's logo, a big "W" looked exactly like the University of Wisconsin's logo, except it was maroon instead of red. After having the logo for many years someone from Wisconsin's athletic department finally made a big deal out of it and Wisconsin sent the Westborough school system a letter telling them they had to change their logo. They actually did rather than deal with the legal headache.

This is one of those unfortunate trademark disputes.

Seems to me the High School has a picture of a Husky Dog in blue outline.

Question is, does UConn husky dog with blue outline prevent all other renditions of huksy dogs? Of husky dogs with blue outlines? Of any dog with blue outline?

It's a dog. They have a picture of a dog. They are not pretending to be UConn. Nobody will be confused by their use of a blue-outlined husky dog. UConn should spend money on better things.

Like creating a logo that doesn't suck.

there's some school in New York that uses the block "c" are they getting sued too?

Can we make the Husky logo vicious looking like the dog in "Call of the Wild"?

The Washington Huskies and the UConnBlog have better looking Husky logos than my Alma Mater.

I'm in favor of tongue.

Can't believe it took so many post to get here.

Regarding Morgan, I think the school is being reasonable. Check out the football board for a good discussion of issues.

should clemson sue us then? while they are known for the paw print, they have the block C under its belt also and use it from time to time. i think coaches still wear it on hats and stuff down there. this whole thing is stupid. uconn should worry about its teams and not some hs that few care about.

Ummm what's the harm in all of this? Is the concern that the school will sell jackets and hats with the pretense that people are buying UConn (or other university) gear? I really can't think of any 'old' high schools who copied NCAA logos, especially for illicit purposes. In any event it not like the 'well compensated' Universities are going to lose any profits over any of this.

Read the opinions from "Kingdobbs" on the football board... he lays out a pretty complete explanation why this is important for UConn. It's a bigger picture than The Morgan School.
