Is anyone using Chromecast with Verizon? How is it working out for you?

Do I have to start using Chrome? I am still using IE.

Is worthwhile to use this? Currently, I just run a cable from my laptop to the tv when I want to watch internet stuff, usually ESPN3 games.

I appreciate any help.

Anything is better than running a cable from the laptop to the tv.

Yes, a Chromecast will work for you and yes, you would have to use Chrome to 'cast' your screen to the television.

Plus, it's just $25 - if you don't like it, you can throw it in a drawer.

The WatchESPN app is compatible with Chromecast. So you don't have to use Chrome if you don't want, just cast from the app on your phone or tablet.

Chromecast is great, but yes you must use Chrome. Quick word of caution: For whatever reason in my experience it has significantly lower WIFI reception than AppleTV(I have one of each for different TVs). So just ensure that it is in an area with strong reception, or boost your WIFI using a repeater if necessary(you can get one for like $40).

I actually prefer Chromecast because I am completely #teamgoogle. Good Luck!

People still use IE!?

Buy it, switch to chrome. Like Fishy said, if you don't like it it's only $25... About the sane price as a nice HDMI cable anyways.

Get a Roku.
Yeah, that's the gist of what I'm reading online. It's fine, it's functional but Roku is worth the $15+ difference. I just got the Chromecast as a gift so I'll probably install it and just trash it if it is a hassle.

.
I was waiting for someone to make this observation. I never saw the point the switching. What's the benefit of Chrome vs. IE? I know it was a bit more virus resistant early on but I think that's not the case anymore.

The hassle of the Chromecast is that you need another connected device to use it. And, as stated above, it's wifi reception is pretty poor. But it works, such as it is.

Outside of that, use whatever browser you'd like - doesn't make a difference.
