She's not exactly under the radar, but I can't help but think that some players would be getting an unlimited amount of hype if they did the same thing. Is it because she chose Iowa?

I think up until this streak, her sophomore year was a bit below what she was doing freshman year in terms of 3pt shot efficiency which is a problem when you take 10+ a game as well as being on a #25 ranked team. If she keeps the efficiency up, sprinkles a few more triple doubles and they beat a few 10 teams, I think she becomes a serious contender for NPOY

Last year she put up insane numbers vs very good teams. This year she hasn't shot well in the 2 games of note (Iowa State/Duke). Iowa was also preseason top 10 and is a borderline top 25 team. If she puts up a 30 point triple double against a team like Maryland, Michigan or Indiana, it'll get a lot more attention.

Also 1-8 from 3 against North Western (Loss) although she was getting inside and getting FTs (13-13) But Barton came up with several disruptions against Clark at end of game.

Good to see she played 35 minutes in that blowout of Minnesota. Yup, stats matter. Granted she had an incredible shooting game, % wise, but even so.
But on the other hand, you have to do whatever is necessary to make history.

I'm conflicted.

Coaches keep their top players in games longer than I would but that seems to be normal. Lisa Bluder is just doing what other coaches, including Geno, do. Let their team leaders play more minutes especially when there's history to be made. Caitlyn is an extraordinary player. Congratulations on a record breaking performance.

Yeah. She definitely isn't flying under the radar, that's for sure. As for the level of hype, I agree. Certain players would be getting much more hype if they pulled off this type of accomplishment. Sadly, her playing at Iowa is a factor. Not the only factor but one piece of the puzzle.

It's sad that it is this way. Don't get me wrong I know there are plenty of UConn fans in here and I truly do love Paige and her game. But if Paige got back-to-back 30 pt triple-doubles or even Sabrina, the hype would be 3x what it is right now.

It’s a consequence of her school choice. Some schools are higher profile in a given sport, some schools have a lower profile. Fortunately Caitlin is such a phenomenal player that it really won’t matter a bit to her pro prospects. She’s put herself on the radar.

What’s really interesting, at least to me, is what the WNBA is going to look like in the Paige, Caitlin, Azzi, Caroline era. That is a ton of spectacular talent at guard. In the same way that Sue and Diana (or Bird and Magic) defined an era, I think that these four will as well

The level of “hype” really doesn’t matter. If Headlines mattered to her, she would have chosen a school that garners them. The people who will impact her future are well aware of her abilities.
