Obvious similarities between Caitlin and Ionesco. Caitlin certainly deserves MVP this year.

Obvious similarities between Caitlin and Ionesco - even their looks. Caitlin certainly deserves MVP this year.
I'm an Iowa fan, but I have to say, if Michigan ends up with a share of the regular season conference title, Naz Hillmon should get the nod.

Iowa wins 88-82 with big 4th quarter. Fun to watch.
Awesome to see Iowa's defense finally lock down in the 2nd half! Only gave up 30 points compared to 52 in the first half. And of course the infamous 42 points in one quarter that we allowed on Saturday.

Clark was great tonight, but I thought Czinano was the biggest difference maker. Just automatic inside and was unstoppable down the stretch. The Ionescu/Hebard comparison is spot on for Clark/Czinano. When Clark has support from her teammates, that's where she really shines since she becomes incredibly difficult to guard when others are scoring too. The battle between her and Cardano-Hillary was really fun to watch. NCH is a gnat defensively and it's clear she gets under Clark's skin.

I like Indiana but they were flop city tonight. Some were pretty ridiculous. Holmes is still shaking off rust but looked good despite fouling out. I hope she's fully up to speed by tournament time. Really fun game to watch and a great comeback by Iowa. If they win their next 2, they'll get at least a share of the Big Ten Championship.

A few Iowa losses ago, many Boneyarders, Benchers (and posters on other venues, I'm sure) were wondering if Clark would get frustrated without the supporting cast of other B1G contenders.

I've always thought Czinano was overlooked in these posts, because it's hard as heck to miss her in the paint for Iowa. Czinano recently announced she'll be coming back for that extra COVID year and that solitary announcement is probably a key point for Clark continuing on her quest to push Iowa Women's Hoops to heights it has not seen.* That said, more consistency has to been seen from Warnock, Martin, Marshall, etc. If the Hawkeyes can get a third -- and sometimes a fourth -- player in double figures, watch out.

* Czinano's back-up, Sharon Goodman, should be back next year, as well, adding more rebounding and defense.

I sure agree on the flop statement. Some were just unbelievable.

Having been on this board for awhile, I'm stunned...just shocked  ...that someone has not come up with why the Hoosiers have "flopping madness." Ali Patberg's first port of call was Notre Dame, so she must've brought that fine art down from South Bend! ;) Call it a trait of Rte. 31!

Good game last night. I look forward to Holmes losing the time limit. Coach Moren should talk to Gulbe, who took more of a back seat with Holmes back: keep strokin' it kid, you looked good during McKenzie's time off. Only make everyone stronger.

I would flop too if I can get some quick calls on Clark, Besides getting her off the court, she tends to get really ticked off and that leads to mistakes. On the other hand, Czinano is such an elite finisher and carves out space and passing lanes. A Boston Czinano matchup would be alot of fun.

Yes...Indiana has some serial floppers, but Caitlin Clark pushing off defenders (some to the ground literally) is getting just as old. I'm serious.

Once Clark picked up her 4th foul, a gentle breeze could have blown over any Indiana defender who came within 3 feet of her. The theatrics were honestly quite sad coming from a team I routinely cheer for and whose defense I typically respect.

Love Czinano but Boston would dominate that matchup. Czinano doesn't have the size or length to match up with Boston.
Czinano is my single favorite player in the NCAA's but... yeah, a matchup with Boston would not end well.

Is there another center in the country as dominant offensively and poor defensively as Czinano? I’m not hating in any way - after all, she’s averaging 20 on 60+% shooting! - but it seems to me there’s a massive disparity in her game between scoring and rebounding/defense that you don’t usually see from this position. Perhaps I think of the post role as more defensively driven than it is.

I do agree Boston would be a total mismatch but I’m also not sure anyone in the country can actually shut Czinano down. ONO is by most accounts regarded as a very good defender and Czinano still did some damage in last year’s S16 matchup. I know she’s just returning from injury, but Mackenzie Holmes is a known as a terrific defender as well.

Czinano's lack of rebounding and defending for her position is what separates her from being an elite post player. That's exactly why Boston would eat her for lunch in a matchup. But it's also why I don't necessarily panic when Czinano gets in foul trouble because Addison O'Grady is pretty darn good for a freshman. She's taller than Czinano and is able to block shots. Love them both though.

Next year, Sharon Goodman -- knock on the rehab bench -- will also return to the floor for Iowa and the 6'3" post does provide a phyiscal presence, at least when I saw her play in 20-21.

Czinano is probably more like 6-1 than her listed height of 6-3 and relies on great hands and bulk for positioning inside. She's great at carving out space and hitting shots against taller defenders but isn't well suited to defend opposing posts. She lacks the height and athleticism, plus Bluder is much more of an offensive coach than a defensive ones. Her rebounding numbers have always been quite low too. I wouldn't be surprised if she has a somewhat limited wingspan which further hurts for defense/rebounding. Watching her play, she doesn't lack effort defensively, but she isn't well suited to defend the post. She's great at what she does and seems like the consummate teammate but has her shortcomings.
