When the game was over, the FS1 play-by-play announcer cut to an on-court interview by color commentator Christy Winter Scott. Her guest was Ashlynn Shade. Nice interview, and Ash was just bubbling over with enthusiasm. But while that interview was going on, you could see, in the background, what was obviously the presentation of a Most Outstanding Player of the Doubleheader award (LSU-Seton Hall and UConn-Iowa State), which went to Sarah, and then an interview of Sarah by another interviewer. We were never told about that presentation, and were never privy to that interview. Too bad. But the saving grace was that at the end of the interview of Ash, with both parties happily beaming, Christy spontaneously gave Ash a big hug. Not your typical dumb-question interview, and certainly not a typical interview wrap-up. If you missed it, it's worth going back and watching.

I saw that too, @OldSchooler ! During the game, Christy Winters-Scott mentioned having coached Ashlynn (and, I believe, Sarah at a different time) in a developmental camp or clinic. She praised both of them and their work ethics. I think she was almost as excited as we UConn fans were to see Ashlynn have such a remarkable performance last night, saying something like, "Great game, kiddo" or "Great job, baby" as she hugged her. It was a lovely moment.

As for the award for Sarah, Aneesah Morrow also received an award at the end of the LSU-Seton Hall game, though I have no idea what either of them was.

Christy also mentioned being recruited by Geno when he was at UVa (She went to Maryland). I was wondering if she had warm memories of Geno and that played into her obvious excitement in the post-game interview.

I think she was just happy for Ash.

Christy Winter-Scott’s daughter played for Georgetown last year and was severely injured toward the end of the semi-final game in the Big East tournament. I believe she is redshirting this year to concentrate on full recovery.

Thanks. I couldn’t find anything online about her for this season, but noticed that she was still on their Hoyas roster. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Ah...I was wondering about Brianna both during the Georgetown game and then last night when I saw that her mother was doing the game.
I guess I missed any update during the GU game...
Plus if she tore her ACL in March, then she should be recovering/rehabbing until this spring, right?
