I don't want to hear about COVID. They lost because they have the 3-point bug. And it bit them. And it's not even that they took too many in this case. It's just that in a close game when they aren't falling, then scale it back. They have a very reliable center in Czinano. Give her some of those 3-point attempts in a close game and...walla...you win.

That's going to kill their seeding in the tournament.
Nah. One game doesn’t have that much weight.
It’s definitely part of the resume but if they go on and win the BiG, this will be viewed as a weird anomaly.

they are what they are. If Caitlin doesn't have a monster game they won't win, and even when she does have a big game that isn't enough sometimes either.

One other thing to note. IUPUI also made it a game against Michigan earlier this season, forcing that game into over time. They seem to be geared up for these games against BIG10 opponents.

Listen, big collapse by Iowa in the 4th and gritty comeback by the Jaguars who must've smelled blood and finally caught the Hawkeyes with three seconds left.

As noted, the Jaguars aren't chump change. They went 23-8 two years ago and 15-5 last year. Two of the losses this year were forfeits. They came up to ND and played the Irish front and center, only dropping the game in the last few minutes.

The two players that led them against Iowa -- Macee Williams and Rachel McLimore -- have been around forever and that experience probably helped them. Madison Wise, the transfer from Iowa State, contributed as well.

Clark didn't score in the 4th. That will hurt a Hawkeye team that depends on her so much for individual and overall team point production. As said, Iowa is what it is, for better for or for worse. Clark tries to force the issue because she either believes it's the only way or because that's what it is. Yes, Czinano is a solid inside option, but I'll bet Macee Williams was offering a serious challenge. Other Hawkeyes need to help the two C's.

Czinano was an unusual 2-6 in the fourth quarter, and Clark didn't score in the fourth. But, it was turnovers and an inability to play defense without fouling that did Iowa in. We had 6 turnovers in the fourth quarter alone and committed 7 fouls, giving IUPUI the chance to go 10-13 from the line in the fourth quarter. How to come back from a deficit 101: score points with the clocked stopped! (Iowa, on the other hand, shot only 2 FT's in the fourth quarter after getting to the line with ease earlier in the game.) I think some of the calls in the fourth quarter were... suspect. But that's no excuse for how utterly sloppy so much of the rest of our play was.

At this point, I see Iowa as a top 20-25 team that has the potential to play substantially better than we have shown so far this season. The pressure will be on to get a few ranked wins in conference play, because the resume is pretty thin so far.
