Maya came out scorching to start the game, leading the Lynx to a quick 10-point advantage over Washington before the first tv timeout, on her way to a 34 point 9 rebound opening night performance. She looked stronger, faster, and more confident in her ballhandling than in previous seasons. That's right, Maya even stronger. Just how an invincible queen should be!

It's Maya's team now. Always my favorite UCONN alumnus and WCBB player. Always will be. Just a winner everywhere she's gone. Accomplishments without attitude.

The start was like a UConn game when Maya outscored the entire opposition early on. See the Verizon Center thread. She hit treys, midrange jumpers, backdoor layups, and putbacks. She also got to the line a lot. Maya played very aggressively,

She was sitting less than 10' in front of us and looked great. Very quick and lean, yet strong. Quite vocal too. If she's not the best in the world yet, she's darn close.

Stef said Maya is fun to watch, but not fun to play against.

Stef and Bria started slowly, but eventually turned in respectable performances. The crowd loved it when Stef hit 3 long jumpers in a row. Bria was her aggressive self and played both PG and SG. Kalana did not play. Ivory Latta was 7-9 from the arc. She was ridiculous.

She has attitude, it is just an attitude of graciousness. ;)

The Mystics might've pulled off the upset if they stuck with Latta and Ruffin-Pratt shooting the threes in the fourth quarter. They started trying to force the ball inside and the shots weren't falling.

There was also a strong emphasis on the Lynx' part to deny Latta the three. Coach Reeve was quite vociferous about that point. Yet, somehow Latta was able to get free for one and nail it. Seimone immediately took responsibility for it, but Latta's ability to get open from behind the arc is uncanny.
