If he's not high major material, Dorsey won't have to worry about him.
Your description of Snider sounds a lot like what someone might have said about Bazz in 2010 - thin, not an elite athlete (especially when measured on the Kemba scale), might be overmatched by bigger, stronger guards. The recruit rankings said Knight, Selby or Joseph were the big catches. Would you trade Bazz now for any of the elite PG's back then? Guys who were one and done and had negligible college impacts (although Knight did make a FF). Hells no.
Typically, you can't pass on a top 50 bird in the hand to hold room for a possible one and done in the bush (did that make any sense?). Perhaps if you have a silent commitment, maybe - but even then if Dorsey changes direction or has a Kyrie Irving type injury/career, you could put yourself in a position with no point guards to play with Purvis-Calhoun-Hamilton (should Samuel not pan out) and you'll be back to trying to find someone a lot worse than Snider off the scrap heap. If you feel comfortable with Samuel as a PG now that he's cleared - even as a platoon with Purvis, you could maybe risk it. Or if you think Boat is coming back. There's a lot of moving parts, and the last thing you want is to be caught without depth in the backcourt with some solid scorers/wings and waste a potentially good season.
