Courant article says PP thought Whitmer was having trouble seeing over the line. Whitmer's response:

""No, that's not the case, just trying to find windows to throw the ball and trying not to make bad plays worse," Whitmer said. "If I can get out there and get rid of the ball, whatever I can do to not do something catastrophic out there and just keep drives going but I've never had a problem with that. Obviously I can make throws. I did it tonight. I'm confident in my abilities. We just have to come back and watch the film."

That's Chandler saying in so many words "don't pin your crappy plays and abysmal line play on me, I was running for my life".

I also think it is a desperate attempt by PP to justify the possibility of playing Boyle to see if magic happens and saves him. I don't want Boyle's red shirt burned on this garbage. Frankly, I don't want Taylor's burned either, but at least Taylor is reportedly a scrambler.

I have to back the kid on this one. He's not Dan Marino, but we've won with a lot worse QB.

Sad to see an old man trying to hang on, throw a kid under the bus like that.

CW should just start calling his own plays.

You can pick out specifics all day long and come up with a huge list of things we could have done better. But in year 3 of this regime none of that matters. The common denominator is coaching. Until that changes all the scapegoating in the world won't hold water. And my God if you're going to have CW running the ball instead of DeLorenzo or Hyp in short yardage do you really want to risk the career of a promising freshman? I like a tall QB but I can see where coach is going with this and its not a good direction.

Absurd!

Jacobs said it best...Dead Coach Walking.

Dracula needs slaying. Will Warde be Van Helsing or Renfield?

Sorry who or what is GDL?

I'm having a brain freeze right now.

George DeLeone -- associate head coach (former OC) and current O-line coach

GDL is the ex Offensive Coordinator; current Associative Head Coach and OL coach. If you have a problem figuring all that management structure out, join the club.

Jacobs is late. He defended the guy last year. Then the NFL draft happened.

I've read this on two threads now. I don't dare read any game recap out of a need to not relive what I saw just over 12 hours ago.

If that was what was actually said, then "Coach" Pasqualoni is pathetic excuse for a leader of men. Over the years, I've tried to give him his due credit because he is in fact the head coach of my alma mater's football team, for better or the continuation of the dumpster fire that we saw last night. That said, in reference to him hereto forth, I will be putting Coach in quotation marks for reasons I'm sure are clear to most of us and for the reason that I am currently explaining in this post.

Whitmer does not have prototypical QB height, but he has made all the throws in the past. We, as fans, have seen it. To imply that three more inches of QB height is the reason for the defensive line's permanent residence in the backfield all night is a cop out to end all future cop outs. "Coach" Pasqualoni and "Coach" DeLeone blamed the talent level on the offensive line numerous times last year. This is season #3 and their first recruiting class has cleared their redshirt year. The best players play, and if the staff cannot coach the best players up into a position to succeed, then they are not remotely coming close to achieving the first bullet point of their job description. That is simply unacceptable to this alum and fan.

There are plenty of 6'-0", 6'-1", and 6'-2" QBs playing FBS college football. Whitmer is reported the exact same height as Johnny Manziel at 6'-1" (for all the controversy surrounding him, he is still the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.). I don't recall his height being an issue when A&M played 'Bama last year or in the Cotton Bowl vs. Oklahoma.

Yes, the offensive line contains comparative behemoths to Chandler Whitmer, but it should not be a problem. Why? Because they should be bent at the ankles, knees, and hips to gain greater leverage than their defensive counterparts. Passing lanes are only an issue if: 1) the offensive line is not getting the appropriate leverage; and 2) the offensive line is getting blown off the ball (see Hemingway, Xavier). These players are good Div. 1a caliber football players (If they are not, then lets take the Master Recruiter title away from "Coach" Pasqualoni as well). So what does that leave? Technique. Who teaches technique? The coaches. Who is intimately involved with the offensive line on a day-in/day out basis? Need I ask any more questions? Even if the offensive line was not practicing good technique, their pure talent and size should have been enough to allow Chandler enough time to pick a Division 1AA defense apart.

Spot on, Chandler when given the time can make the plays. Sure he makes occassional mistakes but he can make the throws.

Whitmer clearly does not trust his OLINE. he was pulling the ball down and scrambling(unsuccessfully) even when he had protection in there.

however, he also got pressured by a 1AA line, ALL GAME LONG

Maybe he had trouble seeing over the o-line because they were being pushed into him.

Imagine that - our offensive line:
Bennett - 6-9 307
Greene - 6-5 308
Mateas - 6-4 315
Cruz - 6-4 309
Hemingway - 6-5 273

Getting pushed around by 1-AA talent. Maybe it's time we get a coach who gets in these guys faces and tells them to put their big boy pants on.

I don't blamd him for doing this. He got concussed twice last year? Not really what you want to have happen again. If given a pocket, I believe CW can be servicable.

Whitmer was bad yesterday. It wasn't all on the line. Not only did he make bad throws to wide open receivers, there were other times where he had open guys but didn't pull the trigger.

There...fixed it for you.

Our smallest guy on the O-line was Hemingway and we actually allowed more than one sack to Towson? Holy cripes that's on P and DeLeone. Put Foley back if it isn't too late.

Throwing his QB under the bus after he was sacked 5 times and was running for his life most of the game. We had 84 yards on the ground. This was clearly a line issue. How spineless can you be? Then again, he at least had the nerve to say something like that to the public. I'm disgusted that this dipsh-t is the person appointed to lead this team.
