Unlike Edsall, under P we do not honor redshirted juniors who have told the staff they are leaving the program with a year of eligibility left, so we don't know whether any of the 8 scholarship fourth year juniors per our roster (Greene, Friend, Bullock, Hyppolite, Christen, Stephen, Willman, or Kenney) will be back. However, while it is always tough to read too much into this (because we are given wrong info all the time), note the following:
1. Jesse Joseph is not being honored. Joseph entered the year as a 4th year senior, but his early injury clearly gave him a 5th year next year if he wanted it. Hopefully, this is a sign that he is coming back.
2. Teddy Jennings was not, per the press release, being honored. This is more surprising. Jennings redshirted his first year with the program. For him to be given a sixth year, the NCAA has to approve and someone has to demonstrate that he was hurt his true frosh year and not just being redshirted.
3. Ryan Donohue was listed on our roster all year as a senior, but we all understood that he hadn't redshirted at MD and thus had the '13 season if he wanted it. He is not listed as being honored either.
Jennings and Joseph both coming back, obviously, would be a huge deal as they would be our starting DEs. Donohue would be competing with Graham Stewart and Ashiru for the openings being left by Johnson and Sio.
Anyway, I found it interesting.
