Our current strength of schedule - and we have 2 games with Syracuse left on the schedule - is #1 in the country. Our RPI, even after last night, is 23.

After last night, it's tough to find too many more wins on the schedule. But the fact of the matter is, when you consider 1) how incredibly weak the bubble is this year and 2) how strong our computer numbers will look, we won't need 20 wins to get in. Dare I say, depending on how things break, we might not even need 19.

I think they definitely need 19 and it would be nice to get that before the big east tournament.

If they just have 18 at the end of the reg. season, that'll put the record at 18-12. I don't think they'll get in at 18-13.

Here are 6 teams last year that got in with pretty iffy records:

#9 Tennessee SEC 19–14 At-large
#10 Penn State Big 10 19–14 At-large
#9 Illinois Big 10 19–13 At-large
# 11USC Pac-10 19–14 At-large (play in game)
#10 Michigan State Big 10 19–14 At-large
#11 Marquette Big East 20–14 At-large

I think you're right. We'll probably need 19 with a win over Syracuse or even Marquette and then 1 win in the BE tourney. These guys need to forget about last night and look at the big picture-most of them were there last year when we were 9-9 in BE. Shots gotta start falling eventually-JEEZUs

This is kind of, oh, exactly what I said 2 games ago. Now with 7 regular season games remaining, we need to win 4 games including one of the big ones (@ Cuse, vs. Cuse, or vs. Marquette), and not embarrass ourselves in the BET.

Can you get in by having the #1 SOS and losing most of your games? Kind of a back-door NCAA tourni bid?

If we don't win more than 2 or 3 games the rest of the way, which looks possible, then the NIT shouldn't make us an offer. Just my opinion.

Oh. And if they do, and the team keeps quitting like they did last night, then I'd say JC should politely decline the invitation.

Good wins: Florida State, Harvard, West Virginia
Bad Losses: UCF, @ SH, @ Rutgers, @ Tennessee

...they REALLY need to win the games they are supposed to (Depaul, @ Nova, @ Prov.) and probably go 2-2 against Cuse (home/ away), Marquette and a Pitt team that is on the uptick in order to even be considered.

Bottom line, they need to find that end-of-the-season spark that they found last year, and quickly. After last nights debacle and the body language on the players though, I'm having a hard time seeing where it might come from.

Beating or playing even with SU would change the mindset and attitude of the team. We'd go on a run.

Pretty much, though they could also win a game or two in the BET and make it.
