Interesting article from Dom Amore of the Courant. It's in today's UConn News but figured it deserved its own thread with an alternate access.

Amore was allowed in the "war room" where the coaches plan practices, games, etc. and was allowed to report on the process and concepts.

“It’s about the emphasis that gets put on it in practice,” Murray says. “How do you keep the music playing? … Because we’re repping so much offense, guys are getting a lot of defensive reps because they have to adjust, they’ve got to keep up. But the focus so much in the summertime is to build out these automatic (set plays).”

It's gotten to the point of Hurleyporn.
Can’t lie, one of the recent articles with him in the graphic where they have him looking like the Emperor Palpatine of MCBB definitely makes me happy

It really is remarkable. The comment about roster construction stands out to me. We knew the roster construction was not ideal, and yet Hurley did not jettison players. He stuck with guys who didn't allow him to unlock this kind of offense. That builds trust and buy-in, that let him bring in the guys he needs. Very proud of this program as a UConn fan. Just first rate, high class people, easy to root for.

I finally finished this article (it's very long). It was very good. If you're interested in how the staff designs the offense, you should definitely read it.

The most interesting bits, to me:
Hurley estimates about 50 percent of what opponents see starting Nov. 6 will change, maybe 60 percent. Or maybe they won’t see it right away. Coaches have been studying different teams, notably Marquette, for ideas on how to unlock Samson Johnson’s skills at center, and searching for ways to capitalize on Solo Ball’s improved shooting. Some concepts used late last season or the year before might be rolled out early this coming season, or vice versa.
UConn’s game begins with a script. As adapted from Walsh’s 1980s 49ers, the first five half-court set plays UConn runs are pre-planned, unless the flow of the game dictates something else.

Our Coaching Staff should set up an Only*Fans with exclusive access to content for basketball nerds. We could probably generate some good $$$ for NIL/player payments.
