Just read some article from "Essentially Sports", what a piece of crap. It is titled, "Azzi Fudd Breaks UConn Fans Hearts with Latest ACL Injury Update". CLICK BAIT, don't bother or give them any cred.

Within the article, they have direct quotes from Azzi's interviews where she is nothing but positive about her recovery. No, she is not playing during the first game; is that what they consider "Breaking Hearts". She is on the exact progression that we all have been aware of. Expect her to be suited up and ready sometime around Thanksgiving.

good piece, offering a look at azzi's tough journey and optimistic attitude. it worries me though that she apparently still is struggling to settle on how she can best contribute to the team: In other words, she continues to overthink rather than have trust in her talent. does confidence still need some work?

Although I was not a college athlete, this article resonated with me in regards to the mental hurdles you go through when injured more than once. I tore my right YKW and then barely 3 yrs later after getting back into things, tore the left. During pre-surgery rehab, the director of the PT place came over while I was mindlessly riding the bike and asked how I was doing. I probably said something typical, like, happy to see me, or tried to make a joke of me "being back". He looked at me and said, NO, how are YOU doing and pointed to his head. Made me realize that he was concerned about my mental state. That stayed with me throughout the pre/post rehab. Even my ortho surgeon said the same things, and one of the best things he said was, ok, you're cleared, and although I liked having you as a patient, I don't want to see you again.

I'm amazed how many people have come to me, because they know I follow UConn WCBB, saying that they heard Azzi was injured again. "What the heck are you talking about?" They explain they heard that Azzi is going to miss the first few games. I try to reassure them that this is old news. Azzi is just going through the full ACL protocol which is roughly 1 year. It's stuff like this article that rile up the less attentive UConn fans.

We may want to go back to Caroline Doty to understand a bit more about Azzi's rehab. While Caroline got the ok to play after several knee injuries, she never regained her quickness or her minutes. Suspect Geno is giving Azzi time to build up her strength and confidence so she can compete at the highest level. With UConn's schedule, being 80% is usually not enough.
