Info for those traveling to Tampa

In addition to the official final four events, there is a lot more to do in the area surrounding the Amale Arena.

The "Riverwalk" is adjacent to the arena and and has a number of restaurants, museums, shops of all kinds, parks and beautiful views of the river. Link below:

The teams will be staying at the following hotels:

1. Westin Tampa Bay - Eight miles from Amale Arena - 7627 W. Courtney Campbell Causeway, Tampa, FL
2. Grand Hyatt - 8.2 miles from Amale Arena - 2900 Bayport Drive Cswy, Tampa, FL
3. Renaissance Tampa - 5.5 miles from Amale Arena - 4200 Jim Walter Blvd, Tampa, FL
4. Weston Harbour Island - 0.3 mile from Amale Arena - 725 South Harbour Island Blvd, Tampa, FL

If anyone has information on which teams will be residing each hotel, please post the information here.

After exhaustive personal research, the DogWarden and Barbara can recommend the following watering holes in the immediate area of the arena:

Hooters
615 Channelside Dr. Ste. 113
About a ¼ mile walk east of the arena.

Champions Sports Bar at the Marriott Hotel
700 South Florida Ave.
An 800 foot walk west of the arena

Hattricks Sports Bar
107 South Franklin St.
Three or four blocks north of the Marriott and the arena.
Less than a 10 minute walk. Cheaper adult beverages than the other two.

I know USC is at the Grand Hyatt because some of our former (now NFL) football players are hosting a party for our fans there.

It is hot down here, hotter than I thought it would be early April. The traffic, everywhere you go, is horrific. All the locals (and by locals I mean the 90% of people who live here but are transplants) indicate there is no good day or hour for traffic, ever.
Safe travels. Good for you if you are staying close to the arena. Myself, am a little further out, the downtown area was just too expensive.

I am looking forward to some good basketball tomorrow!

Just found out that UConn is staying at the Weston Harbour Island. Less than a 10 minute walk from the Amale Arena.
