Seems very shady that Cuse would deem Melo ineligible now.

My conspiracy theory is that they knew he would be ineligible but played him anyway. Now that they have a #1 seed wrapped up, they ban him so he wont cause them to forfeit any tournament games.

Either way, an unbelievable year for that program. Too much drama. I now have them losing to Vandy in the Sweet 16.

You thought they'd make it past the Sweet 16 anyway? Since when do they perform that well in the tournament? It is Fab Melo who was deemed ineligible, not Carmelo. I can't recall them ever doing much with any player but the latter.

In any case, I like your little conspiracy theory idea. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

Word on campus is that he got caught cheating last semester which is why he was held out before. He was reinstated while they waited for the judicial affairs board at Syracuse to rule on it. I guess the judicial board at Syracuse just ruled on it.

If true, that is major BS. So they must forfeit all the games he played in. Right?

Nice timing. Lets rule on it AFTER we get the # 1 seed.

How does this compare to Boatright? Uconn sat Boat just in case he is found ineligible. We didnt want to forfeit any of those games.

Syracuse should have to forfeit all of the games Melo played in the 2nd semester.

Agreed. I'm sure that bastion of justice and fair treatment that is the NCAA will view it the same way.

Shocking. And here I was expecting a change of heart.:p
Big development that Fab Melo is ineligible, but not surprising. Seems like he's been a real head-case in such a short period of time. His shot blocking makes their zone much more formidable. Sitting him will significantly reduce their shot at a title. I guess OrangeBuff or whomever will say that the loss of Onuaku in 2010 and Melo in 2012 prevented the Cuse from tying us at three.

In this case he was eligible until he was declared academically ineligible. He wouldn't be declared ineligible until the judicial affairs came through with the decision.

It wouldn't have been much of a conspiracy theory if Syracuse was on the quarter schedule. Winter quarters are finishing up as we speak. With that said, they are on semesters...so whatever that means.

Ehhh...by that logic, he'd still be wrong, because we would just throw the line back at him that the Dyson injury in 2009 is the only thing that prevents UConn from being at 4.

And cuse fans like to talk crap about Calhoun saying how he cheats and recruits criminals and thugs. Right, and things are looking great in the land of child molesters, drug addicts and cheaters.

You gotta be kidding me! Okay, I say kick them to the ACC curb right now. Just add one to the # of ACC teams that made the NCAA tournament and subtract one from the Big East.

This move is beyond shameful it what happened looks like what happened.

Good this this took place before I submitted my brackets, though I didn't have them coming out of the East even before I read the report.

Publicity (Public University + Horde) > Publicity (Private University + Boonyville + Boonyville Gazette)

We've had all these problems with certain players over the years. We've just handled it better by not compounding the problem with shenanigans.
